2021 Volvo XC40 Recharge PHEV review | Australia

It’s the latest 2021 Volvo XC40 Recharge plug-in hybrid PHEV T5 reviewed by Jenny.

In Australia, the Recharge refers to a Plugin Hybrid version of the XC40 whilst in some other countries the Recharge actually refers to the fully electric version of the XC40.

Powering this partially EV Volvo is a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine which is combined with an electric motor and 10.7kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The combined power output is an impressive 192kW and 425 Nm of torque. The combined average fuel consumption is 2.2 liters per 100km..

The fuel tank for the Volvo XC40 Phev is 48 liters in the recharge which makes it 6 liters less than the tank in the non-hybrid XC40 options. Now you need to know that because there’s an engine, a motor, and a battery in this little subcompact, it means it’s heavy for its size. And weighs in at 1760kg.

If you charge this XC40 PHEV nightly it would probably be enough for most people to run it as pure EV for their commutes to work each day. Then for your longer trips, you can just use it as an extremely efficient hybrid and fill up with petrol when needed.

PHEV's were great 5 years ago but today all electric vehicles are best.
Electric vehicles are just better. No noise, no emissions, less fuel costs, less maintenance costs.
Gasoline and diesel are OLD polluting technology. So last century.

Electric cars, electric trucks, electric buses, electric trash haulers, electric snow blowers, electric lawn mowers, electric snow mobiles, electric water craft, electric garden tools, electric mechanic tools, electric motor cycles, electric bicycles, electric scooters, electric farm tractors, electric construction equipment, electric delivery vehicles, everything is going electric. No worries about starting after sitting for a few months.
Gasoline and diesel vehicles and equipment always need repairs.
