Find Trig Function Values Given the Sine Value and Quadrant of Angle
Показать описание
Given the sine of angle theta = -8/17 and theta terminates in QIII, a sketch is drawn of the angle and the values of y and r are identified from the value of the sine function. These values along with the Pythagorean Theorem are used to find the value of x. Once x, y, and r are known, then the cosine and tangent values are found using their definitions in terms of x, y, and r: cos(theta)=x/r, tan(theta)=y/x. The cosecant, secant, and cotangent values are found using their definitions in terms of reciprocal functions: csc(theta)=1/sin(theta), sec(theta)=1/cos(theta), and cot(theta)=1/tan(theta).
