On the other hand, Trunks seemed like could barely move in his base form under 150 times gravity while Vegeta was training under 300 times gravity before he could even become a super saiyan. Where does that fit in with this? Most of the instances in this video can be chalked up to Toriyama pulling his all-time favourite gag: "Haha small child shocks everyone by being strong despite being tiny." Kicking Buu away was necessary for the plot, doesn't count as a feat. And Piccolo being shocked at their power is a terrible mention even if you're right about everything else, as it's clearly meant to be his shock that they're so powerful despite being kids, NOT that he was intimidated by their power.

I definitely think that Goten and Trunks were a lot more powerful than people give them credit for. Even before their training in the hyperbolic time chamber, there's evidence that Goten and Trunks as super saiyans are at least stronger than Android saga level characters. Android 18 herself was worried about how powerful they were, and she has experience defeating super saiyans. Not to mention that she was relieved when they left after they were disqualified from the main tournament, showing that 18 wasn't confident that she could beat Goten and Trunks. Plus, Piccolo being impressed by their maximum powers shows that Goten and Trunks were powerful super saiyans.

Its been stated multiple times that Saiyan Hybrids have the potential to be more stronger. I think the misconception comes from the fact that we never really see Goten or (Present) Trunks fight as much throughout the series compared to the rest of the gang.

All they needed was one full year in the hyperbolic time chamber and they would’ve beaten Super Buu almost effortlessly. As soon as they learned how to fuse, they should’ve went straight into the hyperbolic time chamber and put in work. They would undoubtedly be the strongest by the end of the series. Not even ultimate Gohan would be on their level.

4:10 I have to keep telling people that Goten and Trunks _don't remember_ when they can turn Super Saiyans, their earliest memory is that they can always do it, hence no origin, even with manga proof.
They still don't get it.

Even if Toriyama forgot (The original Broly movie had this) is that a myth of the old Super Saiyan legend, a true Super Saiyan can turn into one as if it was natural, second nature, from as early as a baby. It's to emphasize it's not so much a form, they *ARE* the form.

This is an implied shocker of the truth of what kind of prodigies Goten and Trunks are.

Goten after seeing his mom die right in front of him and (to his knowledge) having no family left had every reason to turn SSJ2 but didn’t cause of plot

The thing that's crazy is trunks and goten are true prodigy. They should have been treated as such. Naturally strong to a level we haven't seen and just a bit of training could make them top tier power characters
