Giving an overly specific answer is often what I do with people because I don't like to be misunderstood or I feel like I have to justify myself, I'm working on this ☺️

‘Liars always talk too much’ is definitely something I keep seeing in police interrogations but as someone with ADHD (aka compulsive verbal diarrhoea), I’m screwed if I’m ever in the hot seat.

Two interesting things I noticed in the pawn shop video. She hedges her intentions after she realizes he's going to open the box. Suddenly her intention wasn't to sell it, but to buy it back when she can.

Also, she's helping him open it the whole time, almost as if to stay ahead of him. Her realization that the second box is open happens before he says that, and her realization that it's newspaper happens before he says that as well.

I imagine if she knew a dead body was around the corner she'd run ahead to be the one to discover it first.

Something I'd like to add is that some people get easily defensive due to trauma response. It's usually because these people got accused a lot so when they see signs of someone trying to accuse them they'll get overly defensive. This behavior is very common especially in teenagers who got accused a lot by their parents.

I would like to learn as much as possible about deception. I currently am being deceived on a regular basis; unfortunately, I can not remove myself from all of the manipulation and gaslighting at this time. Thank you for the educating videos.

Thank you for all the lessons you’re teaching me. Sometimes I can be very naïve. I use my intuition a lot.

I always feel like I'm being accused, even when I never knew anything about whatever it is. As a child, I used to be accused of all kinds stuff, so it takes very little for me to feel accused. I'd love to be able to analyze my own behavior when I am feeling accused... 🤔

She kept emphasizing she'd never opened it before he even started to examine it. She was making her denial out in front of an expected accusation. Like when you walk in the door and your kid says "I didn't get any cookies, mommy". Yeah, ok buddy. I totally know he got into the cookies, right?

"Do you know anything about that" is great advice! Can't wait to try it out sometime 👌 I also like the boomerang technique, it feels like a great way to communicate without getting into an argument. I am already enjoying your new channel, can't wait to see what more you come up with 👏

Yes, please make more videos like this to help us recognize when people aren't telling the truth.

"The Boomerang technique" is also used in police interrogation, but under a different name that I can't remember.
They downplay the charges and justify the actions of the accused to put them on a moral high ground for committing the crime. It's a way to get a confession, or at least a partial confession and their "foot in the door".
They did this with Chris Watts, when the interrogator painted a "way out" by saying "maybe his wife murdered the two girls and he murdered his wife because of it". And it worked. He admitted to killing his wife to the interrogators and was found guilty on murdering his whole family.

“Oh No! He’s opening the box! Now what?!” The reason the woman repeated that it remained sealed while in her possession, she NEVER opened it whatsoever is bc she thought the guy would just take it back no questions asked. After all, no need to inspect something that was never opened, right?!

great job with this video, thank you.... I work both as a Mental Health Nurse in a hospital and am always trying to do accurate assessments to really get the truth to help these people- especially when there is a personality disorder with secondary gain or substance abuse issues, and part-time casually as a Nurse in a prison where I'm always on guard of being groomed. these videos are immensely helpful - none of my training or schooling covers anything like this.

I struggle with some of these marks as I grew up in a large family and with a mother who would harshly accuse us of something even when we didnt do it. So i grew up verbally defending myself with sometimes over explanations as a result. I also narrow my eyes and lips when I'm not sure of something thats said.

Wow, when watching this video I remembered a situation in a club when I suddenly felt very sick and dizzy. I almost passed out. I was there with a friend and an acquaintance of her. Luckily my friend made sure to get me home safely. The next day (still feeling like sh*t) I talked about my feeling that someone must have spiked my drink. Immediately my friend's acquaintance became very defensive in kind of an aggressive way “You cannot seriously think I had something to do with it??!!“ - I didn't even think of accusing her... until now. I'm not actually accusing her now. There may have been many other factors why she acted the way she did. But it's quite interesting, though.

Firstly I must state that I am autistic (high functioning). Because we see the world differently if someone asks us a question we LOVE to get every detail precise. We're a very diverse community but some of us come across defensive or strange as we interpret neuro typicals differently.

However in a group of like-minded autistic people we have our own social conducts and can communicate "normally" - this is almost always about our special interest (something we devote ALL our free time to and never stop learning about)

"Do you know anything about that?" Great advice. There were other places you asked us to comment on. I didn't really find anything to say about those. But this part seems very helpful.

I love how all of these signs can also be applied to instances when you meet people online. there's several things like not answetring the questions right away, or the boomerang technique... this is so useful!
