It’s time to store our homegrown garlic stash for the year, so we are cleaning it, weighing it, fake braiding it, and getting it stored. We are also attempting to make a garlic sauce condiment called Toum.

That elephant garlic that looks like an onion, is called a "round", it's the first year growth from a bubule/corm. If you replant, it will form regular cloves next year.

Thanks for showing BOTH the good and the bad... that's how we all learn what works and what doesn't. 😊

I love that you’re keeping it real by filming a recipe you make for the first time

We finally got to see your baby's face! She's so calm, content - and beautiful! Now I'm wishing we'd get to see your other kids faces too! We see them walking around and working with you, which is so nice to see.

They're all learning so much from all you do on a daily basis around gardening and growing food. Now I recall that the boys also learned how to weld or something like that too. Do you home school or do they go to public schools?

I can see they're caring, observant, involved & intelligent, and good looking, like their parents, but don't know how old they are, or their names. I've been watching your family grow for a few years now and really like when you cook & explain as you go along. I like your down to earth & thoughtful personalities.

Oh, almost forgot - when making the whipped up garlic and it seemed more soupy than you'd imagined, I thought if you'd just whip up a few more cloves of garlic, then add it into the mix, you'd be adding some .more substance & texture, if that's what you'd wanted.

You could also whip up some chicpeas & add some of that purree for a nice sptead or dip, almost like a humas. I could see adding veggies too, like a sauteed cauliflower, some artichoke or maybe some kind of a lightly cooked green, maybe a raw or lightly sauteed kale.

How nice to have earned all those heads of garlic, onions & more with a bit of good-for-you work by the whole family, outside. Are you planning a fall harvest? You are in a warm climate, so have a longer growing season than I do, but I forgot what state you're in. 🌻

My grandmom would put her garlic up in mason jars with olive… when she opened those jars the aroma would fill the house. We knew something special was about to be cooked when she opened the garlic… miss her everyday, she was 90 years young when she left us

You've got yourself on the record saying "we needed to clear our seed bank, we have a baby on the way, we're not too worried about our yield." Getting harvestables on a shot like that is well worth the time and effort. And you'll start fresh with a new seed bank next year.

This is encouraging! Honestly, when you see a video and everything comes out perfect, it makes one feel like a failure when something goes wrong during our own attempt. However, you showing the reality of life (the ups and downs) and how you manage it was awesome to see! Thank you for sharing and being real! 💪

I planted hot mustard all around everywhere as a cover crop and to deter root worms... It has worked so far

Fascinating how the elder children are addressed and referred to by their given names while the two youngest are addressed and referred to by generics. God said, I called you by your name . Something to ponder. May the Lord bless you and your family ! Thank you for sharing your homestead life !

Hello Hollar family. I so enjoy watching your videos. Your family life is very inspiring and the content is very entertaining, for lack of a better word. Love all your children. The girls are sooo precious, and the boys/brothers seem to think so too. Just wanted to say I love Corbin's haircut. Looks so much cooler for the hot humid summer.

Also, after watching a video of yours on making garlic scape pesto, I for the first time made some of my own. I saw the scapes at a farmer's market and picked them up. Just this evening for dinner I used it to make a garlic scapes pesto pizza on the grill using naan bread. Soooo good.

Enjoy the rest of your summer!

I enjoy your videos so very much I watch them over and over. Congratulations on the new baby she is so beautiful. You both work so very hard everyday so don't feel bad when you have some downtime because you surely deserve it. I love the episodes where Meg cooks. She absolutely amazes me. I have never seen anyone work the way she works. Keep up the good work. I enjoy seeing the boys helping you and Meg with all your chores. I feel like I know you. Love y'all!
