Caltech Associates: Behind the Scenes

This time lapse video showcases a behind-the-scenes look at the artistic chalk rendering created by three Caltech undergraduates Amanda Lin (Class of 2018, Mechanical Engineering), Sandra Ning (Class of 2018, Computer Science), and Ellen Chuan (Class of 2018, Mechanical Engineering) for the Caltech Associates program "The Road Ahead: A Panel on the Future of Driverless Vehicles," that was held on April 19, 2017.
 
The panel included moderator Evangelos Simoudis (BS '83), entrepreneur, venture investor, and Caltech Associates Northern California Committee member, Paul Lienert, Reuters automotive industry reporter, and three faculty members from Caltech's Division of Engineering and Applied Science: Richard Murray (BS '85), Thomas E. and Doris Everhart Professor of Control and Dynamical Systems and Bioengineering; Pietro Perona, Allen E. Puckett Professor of Electrical Engineering; and Mory Gharib (PhD '83), Hans W. Liepmann Professor of Aeronautics and Bioinspired Engineering, director of the Graduate Aerospace Laboratories (GALCIT), and director of Caltech's new Center for Autonomous Systems and Technologies (CAST). CAST is an interdisciplinary research center focused on developing the technologies that underpin autonomous systems from drones to driverless cars.
