Thank you for the video. Just upgraded from 11 Pro Max to a 15 Pro Max used one with 99% battery capability. 800€ was a good deal!

The biggest issue with buying used is the battery. If you're buying a 2+ year old Phone it will need a new battery. So you can add €100+ onto the price you'll pay all in all.

To a lesser extent, import duties and shipping costs will also detract from the bargain.

For example I want an iPhone. I've been looking at used iPhone 13's on eBay UK as well as refurb companies. The price is on average around £350 which is €420.

I live in Cyprus so to import this, I'm looking at about €30-40 shipping costs. Plus I'll have to pay import duties of 19%.

420 + 19% = €499.80
€499.80 + €30 shipping= €529.80.

Then replace the battery = €529.80 + €100 = €629.80 for a used iPhone 13.

I can still buy it here brand new for

So in special cases like this, buying used is not always the best option.

I've been buying used phones for the past few years, both for flipping and using. Your tips'd definitely help beginners a lot!!

iPhone 6s is going on 10 years old, and guess what, it feels exactly like a current day SE minus the battery life or more powerful chip, it’s the exact same performance, it does anything you’d need a phone to do, and it’s reliable given you don’t push it too hard to where it’s battery will drain (as any phone does and laptops too) it’s seriously something that if apple cared of the environment they wouldn’t of made new se models, they would just take iPhone 6s boards and add some more ram to them, it’d be that simple to keep old hardware up to date, it’s proven by old macs, they run Ventura just fine

one thing that i appreciate about reusing „good condition“ items is that we actually try to preserve anything that we have for last.

my iphone 13 still in good condition after buying it new back in the late 2021. i don’t think i need a new one because the battery still good until now. even IF I had to. I‘ll buy prolly 13 pro max.

i just need their mobility for their insanely good camera (yes i pick iphone instead because my ecosystem is apple) 😅

It might depend on the time and what sales might be going on. I have bought most my phones refurbished. I think I bought my Note 20 Ultra three years ago for $550. I live in the US so sales might be different but my Note 20 Ultra was going to lose security updates next year so I was thinking about upgrading. Samsung offers great preorder deals. I was able to get $600 for trading in my Note 20 Ultra to get a s24 Ultra for $599. With taxes, free buds pro 2, a case, and screen protector the total was $730. I think in this situation it makes sense to buy new but I think it might all depend on time and circumstance. Apple doesn't offer that great of a trade in deal for their devices. It might be worth it to just sell an old device and buy another used or refurbished device.

In Australia the price of an iPhone 15 Pro Max is really no different to buying refurbished ($1500 for 256GB in Oct 24) and I've had a great experience getting a refurbished phone replaced for free under warranty so I know what I'd rather do

Not everything you say in the video is true. "Google pixel -> very long software support". Xiaomi 13T and Xiaomi 13T Pro have 4 years of major updates and 5 years of security updates. Same with OnePlus and even OnePlus Nord 4 (not a flagship) have 6 years of security updates. And yep, same for Samsung. In fact, Google is the opposite of the software updates with only 3 years of major updates and 5 years of security updates

Christ this video was a nothingburger that was extremely padded. You could trim the video to 2 minute while cutting off the entire first 5 minutes of the video as its not relevant to the title/ should have been way shorter.
