Can You Use The Nintendo DS Lite Browser In 2018?

That DS lite start up sound hit me hard. I remember i was y or 7 when i got mine. That thing was my childhood.

The DS browser does work if you connect to a router with WEP or open access (I set up a router with WEP + MAC filter). However, you quickly find that since 2006, a lot of the internet has become encrypted with HTTPS, and the new certificates are either not able to load on NDS Browser or they display warnings because they are signed by new CA's that didn't exist back then. So it's not very usable.

The DS only connects with WEP, but WPA2 is the standard since years. So you have to change it in your router.

Ds supports: Wired Encryption protocol in this case WEP connections
PSP supports:WPA1 connections

the memory expansion pack increases the DS Ram to 14MB but no games utilized it, it was only officially used for the web browser. I'm still a heavy DS lite player one of my top 3 favorite handhelds. Your DSlite is in good shape btw

I still have this! I have the version for the original DS with the large memory expansion pack. It was as disappointing then as it is now... basic websites worked fairly okay and it was a good way of "portable internet" before smartphones became affordable but good lord most websites didn't work, even back then. A simple google search felt like it took 20 minutes and half the time the websites would be too complex for it to load and it would just crash! Oh how things have changed 😂

this thing only had one use for me. i used it to get on wifi routers that required a sign in or an agreement to use the internet. it was other wise pretty useless, even then lol. one thing i wish is the ram expansion should have been used for other games.
