Is there any short cut for getting to the terminal? Such as command prompt in windows "windows-key + R --- cmd ---- enter"

(Part A) The point is to teach how to get around in the Terminal. You just cant do everything in the GUI. If you want complete power and control over the system, the Terminal is the way to go. Have you ever wanted to install something, you go to install it through synaptic of software center and it isn't there, you go through the Terminal to install it. Complete control over everything is all. It is where the power of a Linux system lays.

How come when I type the LL command into the terminal I get a "-bash: ll: command not found" ?

(Part B)
Blue color - Directory
Green color - Executable or recognized data file
Sky Blue Color - Linked file
yellow with black background - device
Pink colour - graphic image file
Red - Archive file

So, if the "d" is a directory and the "-" is a file, then what is "l"? (lower case L)
