Just paid $180 for a size 94R AGM (800 CCA) battery at Menards after Autozone quoted $200 for a 94R AGM (800 CCA), and $170 for a 94R standard lead acid (800 CCA). Plus the core charge was only $10 instead of $20. Thankfully YouTube videos showed me the MANY steps to replacing the batter in my 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 5.3L so it was a quick and easy job.

main advantage is that they dont leak. its a justifiable expense for not having a trunk full of acid when slamming potholes, or catching air. I learnt that lesson the hard way.

Im going on my 3rd agm battery in the last 4 years in my 2015 sierra 1500.. dont get an agm if you dont drive the vehicle everyday and let it sit more than a week at a time

Great video and explanation. I am going to buy a AGM battery if my 2001 BMW 530i battery ever fails. I am using a PulseTech PowerPulse passive battery desulfator on it to keep it working longer, Pulse Tech states that there patented frequency used to desulfate a battery can extend battery life by up to three times.

Normally AGM battery use for stop /start funtion enable cars. What happen if i use normal car (without start/stop funtion) with AGM battery i can use long time or it will damge my electronic parts

I drive a 2005 BMW 530D with original AGM battery at 285 kkm and it still starts up fine. About 6 months ago my car started to loose clock every few days and I suspect the battery is finally on its way out (despite still cranking without issues!). That's nearly 17 years! I bought the car 10 years ago and didn't see battery replacement in BMW history by the previous owner (no battery registration was done on the computer either).

I have a NAPA p/n 9834 AGM battery in trunk mount next to the ATN fuel cell in my Mach 1. NAPA's half the price of an Optima...and you don't get any 2 year-old "new" batteries from NAPA, either. I've seen nearly 3 year-old Optimas sold as new! FYI: Once the acid goes in, it isn't new any more.

Do AGM batteries have slightly higher voltage than a similar counterpart? Like say 13 V+ instead of just 12 or 12.5 V?

hmm very interesting. my new "AMG" battery had a "leak" after 3 months of installation. How does that work since he said it it leaks when it's overcharged? The alternator is too strong?

A group 35 battery from one company costs $78 for the conventional and $155 for the AGM. Twice the price is not justifiable unless it lasts twice as many years.

Despite the expectations, our Odyssey's original AGM battery lasted just a year and a half. We don't use auto start-stop, so I put in a traditional battery instead. Just a fluke? Not sure, but given that experience I won't be buying anymore AGM batteries personally.
