DeBarge - All This Love

DeBarge fue un grupo estadounidense de música cuyo repertorio incluía canciones de R&B, soul, funk y música pop.
La banda se dio a conocer a finales de los años 70 y se consagró en el mundo de la música durante los 80. La agrupación estaba formada por miembros de la familia DeBarge, originalmente fundada por Mark, Randy y El. Después de grabar algunas canciones y demos el resto de los hermanos Bunny, James y Bobby se unieron más tarde.
Los DeBarge publicaron seis álbumes de estudio, cuatro de ellos con Gordy Records de Motown: The DeBarges (1981), All This Love (1982), In a Special Way (1983) y Rhythm of the Night (1985). Este último se convirtió en el disco más vendido del grupo y el single ‘Rhythm of the Night’ ganó diferentes premios en todo el mundo, alcanzando la cima de la revista Billboard Hot 100 en Estados Unidos.
DeBarge entró en su declive en 1986, cuando Bunny y El rompieron algunos acuerdos con el sello discográfico Motown y salieron del grupo, de esta manera la banda tiempo después saldría definitivamente de Motown.
Los miembros restantes firmaron con StripeHorse Records, una marca independiente, en 1987, lanzaron su álbum de estudio final, ‘BadBoys’.
El grupo continuó actuando por dos años más, con Chico DeBarge uniéndose al grupo en 1988. Ese año, Bobby y Chico fueron arrestados por tráfico de drogas y debido a que tenían que cumplir su condena condujeron a la dispersión de la agrupación en 1989, diez años después de haberse formado.
En resumen, DeBarge tuvo un período de actividad en la industria de la música de 1979 a 1991.
Dato anecdótico: ‘All this love’ es un single de DeBarge que salió al mercado el 17 de octubre de 1982. La canción fue lanzada como el tercer sencillo de su segundo álbum de estudio homónimo para el sello de Gordy. El single llevaría a DeBarge al estrellato en las listas de éxitos R&B.
Al igual que su primer hit, ‘I Like It’, la canción ‘All this love’ fue abrazada inmediatamente por la comunidad R&B mientras que el grupo conquistaba por otra parte una legión de fans pop. En Estados Unidos el éxito alcanzó el 5º puesto de la cartelera R&B, llegó hasta el número 17 en las listas de la Billboard Hot 100 y fue número uno en el Adult Contemporary chart coadyuvando para que el álbum obtuviera la certificación de disco de oro el verano de 1983.
‘All this love’ fue regrabada por la leyenda del R&B Patti Labelle en su álbum de 1994, ‘Gems’. La versión de Labelle, producida por Teddy Riley, fue lanzada como single y conquistó el 42º lugar en la cartelera R&B de la Billboard. DeBarge y Labelle más tarde cantaron la canción juntos durante un concierto en vivo.

Growing up in the 80's was the best! All the best music was during this time (when music was actually good and worth a damn)! Even though I was young when this came out it was one of my favorites!❤️ I absolutely love all 80's music.
