In which John Green teaches you about World War 2, as it was lived on the home front. You'll learn about how the war changed the country as a whole, and changed how Americans thought about their country. John talks about the government's control of war production, and how the war probably helped to end the Great Depression. Broader implementation of the income tax, the growth of large corporations, and the development of the West Coast as a manufacturing center were also results of the war. The war positively changed the roles of women and African Americans, but it was pretty terrible for the Japanese Americans who were interred in camps. In short, World War II changed America's role in the world, changed American life at home, and eventually spawned the History Channel.

For those studying for the AP exam, congrats, you reached the end of what you need to know for this year! Unless you wanna watch more to possibly get contextualization, in which case good luck!

Every time I come back to this video, I'm reminded of how inspiring the ending is. It remains one of my favorite ways of talking about the US. "Ideals pulling policy"

I am teacher, and I love Crash Course because it's awesome! However, I teach theatre and very little of Crash Course content has anything to do with theatre or creative arts. Have you all ever thought about creating a Crash Course series for theatre or art history? They would be super helpful for arts teachers.

Amazing how things that happen so long ago have such a large impact on how things are today.

We need to clone +John Green and use him to replace all high school football coach history teachers. Then, we need to pay the clones (and all other teachers) 100 percent higher wages for the extremely important work they do.
