I really enjoy these conversations and I wish more of them were civil and thoughtful like this

Conservatives always talk about MLK being a Christian but they never talk about MLK being a socialist

Well done, Glenn! Thank you. The Glenn Show is one of my favorite YouTube shows.

I completely agree with Glenn on the causality. It's not about reducing criminal sentences, it's about not doing the crimes in the first place.

The way he defended Clarence Thomas unmasks his hypocrisy. Thanks for this interview.

His defense of Clarence Thomas removes all of his credibility. I work for a city government and I know that I can’t take any gifts and no food over $25. We have to take ethics classes every year and they drill that knowledge into you. To say that CT just didn’t cross some T’s and dot some I’s is an outright disgrace.

David: lists 4 policies
Goober: "Which policies do you have in mind?"
Off to a flying start

He said people are nitpicking Clarence Thomas... Zero credibility.

For me, the glaring problem with Clarence Thomas is that i am somehow held to higher standard than him and im just a low level state employee. I had to sign documents stating i would not accept gifts. And the policy is termination if not followed.

Its just crazy that people like him who can make huge changes and decisions affecting millions of people can get away with it.

Personal bias can make even the most educated people sound stupid. His defense of Clarence Thomas was completely ridiculous and silly, and he followed it with some classic whataboutism.

Glenn Loury makes excuses for Clarence Thomas because they are friends. Both of them being black can also cause Mr. Loury to put his blinders on. Clarence Thomas is corrupt and unethical.

The Anti-Drug Abuse Act of 1986 gave us this, "distributing just five grams of crack carries a minimum five-year federal prison sentence while distributing 500 grams of powder cocaine carries the same sentence." (ACLU) Wall Street and the upper middle class were the ones using powdered cocaine (it was the 80s), and poorer people, including many minorities, used crack. After this law was passed, police flooded into the inner cities and arrested so many people we just filled our prisons and jails with primarily poor people. You didn't see the police arresting people in upper-middle-class neighborhoods. The war on drugs has been a disaster, and it's set us back decades.

Love the list of people he admires. It's great to see some of the amazing work going on that doesn't get into the spotlight. Cannot defend CT's actions, however. If you want to get rid of inequalities, then you have to hold everyone accountable and to a high standard, especially those in the highest positions. That goes for Clarence Thomas and Claudine Gay.

I thought this would be a good conversation, as I really like both of these people. It didn't disappoint. Thanks David. :)

Having this kind of guys around you can never get rid of corruption. Whenever someone is a friend, they cannot see the bad.

Good to see you again Dave. You seem well and I respect your willingness to listen.

The . minute he defends Thomas, he looses all credibility

I have always found listening to both these people worth my time. I often disagree with Loury and I don't care for his confidence in religion being a solution in Black communities. But just because you don't agree with him doesn't mean you should dismiss him outright. His defense of Clarance Thomas however is disgusting.
