Just finished this show. It was phenomenal and very similar to my story. These institutions are toxic and I’m so glad people are finally brave enough to speak up.

I’m all for accepting people for who they are, the only thing I think I don’t agree is Lena wanting to be accepted by Shane. He doesn’t have to accept her, it’s his right.

Heartbreaking tale filled with humanity, warmth, and struggle of being free to live and love. Can't stop watching.

Why are they changing a religion that doesn’t agree with their lifestyle? Why not just leave or start another religion? Serious question

Love is love, no matter what gender. If you’re fortunate enough to find the love of your life, embrace them wholeheartedly and don’t jet the cruelty of religion, government or society ruin it.❤️🇦🇺

We need to hear more stories like these in these times.

I really feel like Sal and Lena ask too much at once. You left your spouses for each other, you have to give people time to adjust. Not everyone can be so open all at once.

The saddest part yet was when she called the much-loved Mission President, and he treated her like that. Just for a second, when her wife tried to comfort her, there was a look of confusion, like, "One of the people I most respected in the world just told me I am fundamentally, morally wrong, and basically hung up on me. And I was so friendly, too." Ugh. It deepens my already fairly deep dislike for religion in general, and that organization in particular. They are an icon of loveable couples in this state, I wish them the very best.

As many people seem to be asking, if this were a story of a woman and man leaving their respective families for each other, would Hulu have made this series? Would they have been heroes? It happens all the time and society frowns on couples that find love when they are still married and leave their spouses. Been there, done that and I am not proud, but it happens. Why should these two be heroes?
The series would have been different if it were two single or divorced LDS ladies who fell in love, but these were married women.
Either shame them like you would a heterosexual couple in the same situation or glorify a hetero couple who found love outside their home.

I support their lives and all that ... but the people I shed a tear for when I watched the ad for this was the husbands. You could see how their lives and hearts and families had been broken by these two deciding to dump their husbands and be together - and that's not coming from any concern about sexuality because I support all sexualities .. I just feel sorry for the blameless spouse who gets dumped by the partner out of the blue because they have moved onto someone else.

I have absolutely no problem with someone changing religion or discovering their sexuality. But this story is not one that needs to be idolized. How is this any different for a wife leaving for another man, or a husband leaving for another woman? You're idolizing a broken marriage. Things happen, people aren't happy, and marriages break apart. It happens, it's unfortunate, and people need to find their happiness, even if it means leaving a marriage. But that is not a happy situation. It is certainly not one to be celebrated. You're pandering a broken marriage and broken hearts as a good thing. You're capitalizing on the aspect of sexuality and self discovery for views, when really you're just making a dollar off of people's pain and suffering.

Just finished watching it and those two were made for each other, they’re both narcissistic. What the heck did Lena expect from Shane? Sheesh 🙄

An affair is an affair, a cheater is a cheater. Sally has no regrets being married to a man because of the children. Knowing what she knows now, she would do it all again 🤦🏽‍♀️ She doesn’t mind the cost of severely damaging another human. Yikes. If you could do it again, wouldn’t you want to leave the church and come out earlier, before the process of starting a family?

Also, mum just abandons all belief 🤔too good to be true. Scripted, fake, not a doco series. More like a badly written reality show.

So they get to ride into the sunset and live their "happily ever after" but leave a wake of deviation and brokenness for their husbands? Nah. Have fun in that dysfunctional Brady Bunch when those kids are teenagers and it's no longer a fun extended play date. I hope those kids run to the stability of their fathers.

I often hear that God is the god of love, so opposing love must be the work of Satan. And of course it wasn't God that wrote the bible, it was men, interpreting things as they saw fit. So overall, love is to be protected and anyone who opposes that, well, you must have hate in your heart, and we know where that will get you in the end.

Sad story, but very boringly presented. Yakyak

Life is short. Live your truth. Good for these ladies. I do have empathy for the husbands as well though. Divorce is hard, but healing can happen.
