They did not mention the year it was installed.  We had similar case in Michigan.  Blaming the installing contractor did not work because the mfr instructions from 1998 did not require bonding until about 2004.

Umm, no its not! Both have there uses. Both are good products when properly installed.

CSST is easy to install but it is not cheaper. Its very expensive, the fittings are pricey as well. It is normally used where black iron would be difficult to install

Every CSST fitting comes with instructions. It clearly states that it has to be bonded to the electrical ground rods and goes into detail as to how to do it properly.

Blame the inspector who passed their final inspection

csst is an extremely safe product when installed properly, it cuts the chances of gas leaks down to a fraction of the amount possible with conventional black gas pipe, it is required by code to be bonded to the electrical panel which prevents things like this from happening

HOW CAN YOU POSSIBLY BLAME THE MANUFACTURER?

IT
WASN'T
BONDED

That's like blaming chevy because I didn't stop at a red light.

would think propane tanks outside would constantly explode from lightning strikes if this was the seems strange about these cases....

Would be nice if the video could explain what people should look for or change if CSST is in their homes

Csst materials are way way more expensive. The only reason that you do it that way is because it cuts the labor 7 times compared to regular ridgid pipe.

CSST tubing was not grounded properly

It was installed wrong. Blame the fitter, not the product.

Why was csst installed in the roof now you'r blaming the manufacturer it shouldn't be installed in the roof where lightning could reach easily.

BUT.. this report NEVER stated if it was GROUNDED.. therefore, could have been the installers responsibility?

why'd the guy say "excuse me"? was he gonna start balling like a baby? wuss. grow a sack. and quit suing people and companies! that's one of the many problems with this country. people and lawsuits. what happened to personal accountability?

obviously it was never grounded which is installer error you're supposed to be certified before you even install CSST the new csst has a double coding with a ground Coating in between the two rubber coatings to prevent this problem. Yet I see Lowe's is selling the old csst to the public, are they looking for a lawsuit? I run an HVAC company and I know as a fact that none of my suppliers will sell us csst until all of our installers have gone through their classes and have become certified and it's been that way for over a decade. this is also an inspector not doing his job correctly.
