I love the fact that you're using examples on darker skin tones. I rarely see this by other dermatologists online. With more education like this we can make sure people ger checked in time 🙌🏾

Can also happen with being overweight as a sign of prediabetes. I had this but no pre diabetes :/ lost 30lbs and it went away completely but it wasn’t as bad as these pictures

I use to get this darkness behind my neck and turns out my gold necklace was going it. Apparently if your low on iron real gold can make a mark on your skin causing it to look darker

Hmm. Diabetes unfortunately runs in my family, but never once have I seen anything like this on any of them. I was always told this is just a pigment issue with people who have darker tones. My ex mother in law actually has this, her son, and her daughter.

I would love to see this on fair skin as well! What is it exactly that you are referring to in the pictures? I was just diagnosed with diabetes.

@pillowtalkderm @shereene I am your biggest fan but with this.. I am sorry I hope you are open for comments. Ofcourse you know what is relatable for diabetes. But there are different types. Please also explain more... Mention the type etc. I am a diabetec type 1 since the age of 14 and never have I had any of this. And no my levels are not always great but yes I do eat healthy, have overall good levels, work out etc. Type 1 and type 2 for example there is such a massive difference.

For type 2 diabetes…
Type 1 diabetes doesn’t cause this at all.

And not one person was slim and they to can get diabetes so why not put them as well?
