Introduction to SQL - Tutorial for beginners to databases. PART 1

This video answers:

What is SQL?
How is SQL used?
What is a database?
Why use a database instead of a spreadsheet?

These videos have an intrinsic cost of about $1000 to make so if you enjoy them, please consider donating so that I can make more videos on a more regular basis! It's not just standing up and talking. It could be weeks of planning/research, then multiple takes, then hours of editing then responding to comments. Don't forget the thousands spent on the equipment used. I've spent a lot of money on the equipment I use to shoot/edit these and when they fail (which they are), I have to spend even more money to replace then. Then there is the fact I use up all my free time to do videos now. I have put aside friends and family to focus on this because I feel this is my calling to help others. My job is also very demanding and always comes first, so that leaves little time for videos. Thanks!

NOTE:
SQL combines the roles of data definition, data manipulation, and query in a single language. It was one of the first commercial languages for the relational model, although it departs in some respects from the relational model as described by Codd (for example, the rows and columns of a table can be ordered).

Thank you everyone for all your support and kind words! I put a lot of my time and effort into these videos and as a child of two teachers, I'm passionate about sharing knowledge and helping others! I started making videos in 2009, long before it was possible to make the pennies I do now (Not even enough for cellphone data plan). My vision was always to share this information for the sole purpose of making it easier for others to learn things that I struggled with because of the type of complicated materials that I had to use to learn from.

If this video was a great help to you, the best way to thank me is to donate a dollar:

IF, you are looking for a job in Financial Technology (Trading support or simular), take my SQL course for job seekers, or/and tell a friend about it. It's the only course of it's kind that is for job seekers and I can offer discounts on my advance course next month:

What energy you got ! I have never seen someone teaching databases with so much excitement

This video has so much potential. You have an energy and presentation style that most other YouTubers lack, but the video quality (or lack thereof) is killing you. PLEASE re-record this in a better setting.

And I disagree with the poster who said to use a Wacom tablet. Part of what makes you stand out from others is your enthusiasm and friendliness, which would suffer if we can't see you. Stick with a whiteboard, but spend a little on better lighting and video.

Like I said, you have so much potential. I hope to see a lot more from you.

"You can store it in a spreadsheet. Hopefully not a crooked one like this because this is probably illegal" The humor and energy in this video keeps you intrigued! Great Video... You should definitely invest in new markers though lol

Thank You. I am a beginner and you talked to me like I am a beginner ( not stupid but a beginner ) thank you. I have gone through a PLEATHERA of videos and information. Many people I simply cant understand their dialect from where ever they come from. You Speak English in American English and that helps me ( okay maybe I am stupid ) but thank you.

Doing good -- keep the classes coming -- ROCK ON.

Thought I agree that the lighting is a little off, I will also say that this has to be the best combination of informative and entertaining tutorial I have ever seen. Seriously, you should give my professor tips.

Very useful video indeed. You have explained the concept very well; I now have a very good foundation in SQL. There are teachers and there are teachers, you have the gift of teaching! As a martial arts instructor I know how important it is to simplify information and pass it onto a student in an easy to assimilate form. You have certainly done that and you make your classes interesting. I will certainly like and subscribe to your channel!
