I didn't think Gear Wrench would hold up well. I have overpriced snap on tap & die sets. thanks for making this video.

This video is 5 years old. Have you changed your mind on these or found a better set for around the same price? I’m going to buy a set tomorrow because I’m tired of borrowing these and I can’t choose between gearwrench, craftsman or icon

I love the 75 pc set. That would’ve been a good value for you, it’s the same sets just combined and you only get one tap handle. And they’re about $100 for the set

Damn that looks like something worth checking out. Never have to many tap and dies especially in heavy equipment industry

If you look on the packaging, says no warranty on the taps and dies.Another item I bought which is well worth the money for the taps is the tap socket set made by Lisle.Fit in spots where the tap handle won't fit in.

IMO the most important question is "How well do they cut?"!! I'm talking about cutting new threads, not cleaning up existing threads. Do they cut well in mild steel? How about stainless?

I like a lot of people have a set from Harbor Freight and they are total crap. The wrenches don't fit the smaller sized taps worth a damn and the taps keep spinning in the wrenches. They cut but the threads are very loose and sloppy. The HF set is OK if you are just cleaning up existing thread but for cutting new threads they suck. Therefore I need a new set of taps and dies as I rarely clean up threads but almost always am cutting new threads.

You can use the gearwrench ratcheting wrench with the craftsman go thru 6 point sockets

Sweet! I'll look into these sets, I've been looking at tap and die sets but can't justify $400 for them. Great content as always.

A thumbs up for the presentation of the kits, Mr. Clay. Issues I've had with the ratcheting mechanism on my Gearwrench ratcheting wrenches leaves me with as little desire for their tools anymore as your desire for Matco. I wonder if it's true that Apex/Gearwrench makes tools for Matco?

Wonder what the Rockwell hardness is on the material?

You can buy a box with both metric and the sae in the same case. So there all in one case. I bought the sae like you I have not picked up the metric set yet.

200 bucks between both sets not bad at all especially if they hold up well. Especially lifetime, good vid clay
