Last time we took the Trolvo to the track it went 9s for the very first time and then it mysteriously started going slower. We find out what caused the problem.

What went wrong Scotty is you let a psycho called Bubba behind the wheel. 🤣👍

Also check to have a better cable from Altenator to Battery, so more excuses from the Trolvo... Love this build

*Another re-VOLTING episode!* 😆

*Nothing like an easy fix to start off the week. Fancy volts always work better.*
✨🔋✨😎👍

Wow! Not the problem I was expecting!
Lets hope the low voltage didn't cause any lean out conditions!

Waiiiit what? Friday already! :-)
I found years ago that cheaping out would come back and bite
Might be worth running a dual battery setup for all the amp hours, sure its a bit of extra weight but 2 is better than one right?

Nice hair cut Scotty 😍😍👍👍
And voltage is the most important thing with new cars

Tip
Cool the alternator.
Some of the luxury brands water cool the alternator so the least you can do for your track or burnout vehicle is duct some cool air to it.
Cold air intakes that actually get cold air from in front of the cooling system also help with power and reduced engine temperatures.

Scotty is the Trolvo getting enough regular drive time to keep the battery voltage optimal? If it is sitting around for long periods and you are trailering the car around, it may not have had enough voltage before you started.

Also note that alternators run at pretty near 2X crank speed with a stock ratio.

Well that's a relief. I was worried you toasted the rings.

Hi Scotty
I remember back in the days of the phase 3 alternator speed was a problem
Genuine phase 3’s have a larger alt pulley same as you are saying
Yes unfortunately I am that old …
But great memories!

Had the same kind of issue with my old WRX track car, a better Alternator and an Odyssey battery fixed the issues.

Not sure if this would work - DIY wind generator builds always include " a high power resistor as a dump load " to protect against overcharging during high winds

Ooo, that's at least a win with hopefully just the alternator being the issue. Maybe fitting an Optima deep cycle battery and turning the alternator off above 6500rpm may help with keeping the alternator alive. Depends if coils etc required 14.4V or happy with 12.4V to run efficiently. The deep cycle should have no issues providing power for the short periods above 6500rpm.

good video Scotty, voltages and problem alternators .

Wicked! Forge on. I hear the alternators diodes also really dont like any voltage drop? Also, the regs can just plain wear out.

A 2UZ 150amp alternator basically bolts on, just need to shave down one of the mounting tabs on the back side.

Grab a battery tester they're relatively inexpensive but save a lot of guessing if the battery is on the way out.

Holy bud, Scotty you can't get any luck with the voltage mate, well at least it's not to high like the ute😁😁 Those Aussie Heltech's are gold mate 😁🇭🇲
