Deforestation in our world is very worrying indeed. Forests are the world's lungs and home to many animals and insects. Of course it is not just Borneo but the Amazon as well. Greedy Corporations don't have any regard for wrecking the land. Sad.

Thanks for bringing out the deforestation issue. There have been so many flag signs like flash flood and land slides but people still refuse to connect between these two

I'm from peninsular Malaysia and been auditor for many companies in Malaysia from Sandakan, Miri, Kuching, JB, KK Penang to Langkawi since 2001. for this 23 years long, I've experienced all the vibes and locations. basically almost same all over places in Malaysia. but each places may have their own speciality of cuisine and dialects. that's the only different.

7:45 People tend to expect the food in Sabah & Sarawak to be copycats of food in the peninsula and when that expectation is not met, they tend to say food there aren't nice. The thing is... both Sabah & Sarawak cuisine have milder profile which contain a lot of local plant and herbs as their ingredients and aren't available in the peninsula Malaysia. The assumption that there isn't any diversity in terms of food is that because chinese food dominates. If one were to look harder, you'll find stalls and kopitiams with traditional indigenous food! If you're in Kuching, there are a few places to get indigenous food like Jak Ma'an, Busang Jelini Long Panai, Awah Cafe (a bit further in the city), Rumah Asap (smokehouse where you can find delicious grilled pork)... Just because you can't find many Indian restaurants in there doesn't mean we don't have diversity in our cuisine.

I went to the islands in Semporna last July 2023, it was safe & sound. A family from Germany stayed 3 days & 2 nites in the chalets on an island off Semporna town & they enjoyed themselves there. If you listen too much from the hoax news, you'll missed the chance to experience the fantastic experience of snorkelling watching the sea creatures yrself as you dive.xx

Borneo food is very good, there are vegetables that one can only eat in Borneo and certain seafood too.

Imagine how much deforestation has happened in Europe in the past, that is very sad. We tend to point fingers and look at these Souther nations, while coming from totally destroyed ecosystems ourselves :)

The whole of West & East Malaysia are now very safe. Sea Patrol bordering Sabah and Philipines has been more frequent as a naval based (ESSCOM) has been established in Sabah since the Filipino guerilla invasion of Sabah in 2016.🫡 Worst case crime happened in Malaysia is in KL as too many foreign workers (both legal & illegal) resides there. Eventhough KL is ranked as among the safest capital city in the world.

Tq for visiting Kota Kinabalu. I live in the outskirt of KK, it is safe & the locals (me) are very friendly. Most of us speak English too. It would be interesting if you had attempted to climb Mount Kinabalu, tallest in South East Asia.

Thank you for visiting Sabah and for your honest opinion about the environment and the pollution. I hope the community leader of these water village are being given education about cleanliness and the effect of these garbage to the corals. Which one of the ministries - in Sabah who is suppose to be monitor all these rubbish/garbage ?? It has been going on for decades. The local government is turning a blind eye to it!

Glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay in Negara Sabah, Borneo. Please do not avoid palm oil, it's a golden crop that has lifted lots of our people out of abject poverty.

I've been to Sabah about 2 years ago. So different than Peninsular Malaysia. Sabah & Sarawak is full of nature, truly a fantasy world for travel lover, the food. But more surprisingly, borneo people really doesn't look like typical Peninsular Malaysia. Their look more like Asian Japanese & Taiwan combined, even my partner says "are we really still in Malaysia right now?".
