BPD is one of these disorders where it almost feels like a person who lost the diagnosis is perhaps the best to treat BPD sufferers and even to administer DBT, like how Marsha Linehan herself was struggling with it and developed DBT as a result of her struggle. It's extremely difficult to explain to someone who does not have intimate familiarity with it including professionals.

I lived with a bpd for 2 years and she is exactly the way you define them. She doesn't self harm either but she is absolutely without a doubt a BPD.

Given the theory that a borderline is a failed narcissist, it would be interesting to consider if it is the brain abnormality might, in some instances, be connected to this failure. It would also be interesting to consider links to neurodiversity and specifically ADHD, which is a brain disorder for which many scholars are trying to have emotional dysregulation re-introduced into the diagnostic criteria for ADHD. Many experts in ADHD identify it as a core feature of ADHD and that it’s removal has significantly hampered ADHD research and treatment. Interestingly, Rejection Sensitivity Disorder (RSD) is considered part and parcel of ADHD emotional dysregulation. The other important consideration is that there is a strong evidence-base that ADHD is very effectively treated with stimulants and non-stimulants. It would be interesting to know if such medications may assist other disorders. This is one of my favourite features of your scholarship Prof. Vaknin - your inter and intra disciplinary approach illuminates our growing understanding of humanity. Thank you.

I am 22, female, and i have every criteria of the diagnosis except self harm, but I HAVE SEVERE SUI€!DAL THOUGHTS AND PLANS at times, especially when i am deeply sad because of a rejection or an abandonment.
I feel like self harm for me doesn't manifest in cutting myself or such, but It manifests in extreme risky and reckless behaviors that could be deadly.

I live in the Netherlands. I have ADHD, but I know some BPD individuals. Here they push group therapy only for cost reasons. They like to call it efficiency but it's not. Could be helpful but not the best for a base to base case.

I haven’t even watched the video yet but I’m glad the BPD diagnosis is being changed. It’s poorly defined and overlaps with EVERYTHING. Quite frankly it sounds more like an autistic person with CPTSD.
