Social media networks have struggled to contain the spread of misinformation as conspiracy theories continue to saturate the internet. Recently a number of conspiracy theorists have posed as journalists online in an effort to further peddle false narratives to the public. Helen Lewis, a staff writer at The Atlantic, joined CBSN to discuss the implications.

What you just said is a lie… Barack Obama took forever to produce papers! If you are born in the United States of America and let’s just say I lost my birth certificate I feel out an application and within a week I can have that information although the hospital In which I was born in head burnt down in the Chicago fire… I had to have a copy of my birth certificate made from phish. And I still received it within a week!

When you ask a person to produce documentation that you were born in raised in the United States of America those documents can be received very quickly! They told me 10 to 15 days however I received mine in less than a week. Because I also included the information regarding the Chicago fire and it might be a difficult task and ask them are you sure I can get them within a week to 10 days… Yes I had copies of my birth certificate in my hand before seven days! It took Barack Obama the better part of the year... sounds a bit strange and fishy to me! And it had nothing to do with Trump at the time that these questions were being made of Barack Obama and his heritage! I would appreciate it if journalists would keep their personal opinions to themselves and state facts
