My God, this movie was a glimpse of the future, and aged like fine wine.

There’s something about Hugo Weaving’s delivery of Wachowski monologues that’s so unique and rhythmic. Can’t help but hear Agent Smith in this and I love it

I love how 95% of the population is hooked at his speech. Showing that people have their deepest hatred towards their government is slightly lightened up, and a spark of hope.

All the people in the comments going "oh, this speech accurately describes society today! Wow look at how far we've fallen!" really misses the point. Because I bet many of those people are describing their own political opponents, and no, much like V, their group is the one who is the truth!

But no. V is a singular person. If you want to look at society, look at ourselves. Haven't all of us got our own ideals on what society wants us to look like? Haven't we all got the opposition we think is wrong? No, we are not V. We are the common man he addresses.

And that's not a bad thing at all! V does not do the revolution at the end of the movie - the people do. He is not the only hero - the woman, the detective, the young girl - all of these are people who listened to his viewpoints and changed their minds. Like them, we all have our preconceived notions about what we want for our collective future. And when exposed to new information, we may change.

V for Vendetta is not about "overthrow governments" or "society is failing" - its about listing to the dissenting voice that is talking and being able to decide that point they bring up for your own. Whether you agree with it or not - and you are allowed to agree with a higher power, you don't always have to be dissenting - that power to decide for yourself is what makes the common man into a hero.

We are not V, each one of us speaking truth to power. We are, all of us, the flawed and biased crowd. And, by allowing ourselves to consider the novel views of someone like V, we can morph ourselves into the true heroes of the movie - the common man who was able to change their mind.

In real life, people wouldn't be able to process what he's saying, get mad at the interruption, and cheer their government no matter how oppressive for his removal

The fact that this clip was uploaded on Third of November still baffles me to this day. We were on the verge of greatness. We were this close.

From a forum:
"If there ever is going to be a 5th of November, one to truly remember.
Where people are waking up and stand together. Then this is now a fight that we can not surrender..
End the masters, the ones we can not see, win this war and humanity will truly become free."
