For me, I fall into a few categories.

1. I do like the latest and greatest from Apple.
2. I do have a MBP and an iMac 🖥 both upper end specs.
3. I do have the M2 MacBook Air pre-ordered and I have it fully specced out.

I like having the MBA on the go because I’m one of those people to have projects on my MBA and then I transfer my projects to my more powerful Macs at home. That way I’m not packing around my very expensive MBP all the time.

Plus, I like to keep the MBA around for common tasks as well. Basically, the MBA allows me to leave my MBP situated the way I want at home and not have to constantly disconnected and pack it up.
