Nothing can top the burgundy Parker 51 pen my (English) grandma bought for my grandad when he was 21. He died at 91, and he used this pen every day for 70 years, always with the original black Quink ink. I asked him if I could have the pen: I've had so many letters from him, that pen is so much a memento of him. He said I could: but when he died, no one could find it. And then, fortunately, Grandma found it in the back of his desk drawer. Wonderful pen: easy flow, easy fill, nice thick line but not too much: perfect for my hand, which was Grandad's hand for all those years.

I can vouch for the Lamy 2000 - mine is now over 40 years old (purchased c1974) and going strong.

A few months before he died my grandpa gave me his Lamy 2000. Works perfectly and looks more modern than most pens made today.

I'm currently a student completing my bachelors of science in earth and planetary sciences, and I can say that I know what I want to save up for as a graduation present to myself. That Visconti Homo Sapiens

The Namiki Maki-e pens are so BEAUTIFUL. I'll pick one up in the future when I'm better off.

I have found your vlogs to be exceptionally helpful. Sadly I lost my last fountain pen after only forty years. The pen world has developed so much in that time that I have had to start as a beginner. Thanks for your help. Also I am so pleased that your buisiness is doing so very well. You are authentic and that is probably the making of it all. Be well.

Excellent video and excellent list of pens. For some of them (Visconti, Namiki Maki-e), the title of the video should have been "Pens that Require a Lifetime of Savings to Purchase." I hope to start my foray into the gold nib category over the next 12 months or so with the Lamy 2000 or maybe a gold-nib Pilot pen.

For some folks, their high end is a Visconti or a Namiki. For me, I’ll forever be satisfied with my grail pen: the pilot custom 823.

I would add a Sailor 1911 into this collection if I can. One of the best and most affordable fountain pen I've come across.

That Visconti lava one is certainly unique, seems like it'd be a savings goal.

While the japanese pens for 5 grand are very nice, seems more like a show piece and you're paying for the artwork. I'd be afraid to drop it or something.

Since getting into fountain pens about a month ago, I have never looked back at cheap ballpoint pens. I hope to remain a Penthusiast for a lifetime.

I love all your videos. Thanks so much for posting them. In India, people of my generation (I'm 52 now :-) ) grew up with eyedropper-filled fountain pens, but I find it sad that almost no one uses these lovely things any more. We seem to have only roller balls and ball points, whose writing has no character at all and none of the joy of writing with a fine instrument that you treasure, and take care of. Again, thanks for the videos!

Great selection. This is a constantly changing list depending on who does it when. You provided a good range of pens that meet your criteria. Maybe you'll do more lists each year & show how they change.

I'm enjoying your channel. I'm a pre-newbie to fountain pens world, but I'm growing more interested.
