Forgiveness is overrated 😂

As a therapist, I love this. I absolutely encourage my clients to feel and sit with their feelings if that’s what they need to do. We can’t move forward if we’re stuck on something. You take that time to seethe. I’m right there with you trash talking them in my mind 😂😂

This is actually healthy. The “forgive and forget” thing is perpetuated by victims to retain the status quo and not hold someone accountable. You can let go of anger and resentment, but you don’t ever have to forgive someone who’s wronged you and even less forget the hurt it caused. It’s how we adapt and protect ourselves in the future.

As you can probably tell, I’ve had a lot of experience with this when I was bullied and abused as a child.

Forgive but NEVER forget. Abusive and toxic people should never be allowed back into your life once you escape them unless they proved to you that they have truly changed and apologized. Three rules to live by: the Golden Rule; once bitten, twice as shy; and mind your own business.
