This is why church and state are separated for a reason.

People who want the 10 commandments displayed don’t follow it themselves

George Carlin is my religion. I demand that his words be posted in every school: “Religion has actually convinced people that there's an invisible man living in the sky who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever 'til the end of time! But He loves you. He loves you, and He needs money! He always needs money! He's all-powerful, all-perfect, all-knowing, and all-wise, but somehow he just can't handle money!”

Oh awesome. This must also require the display of the 7 Fundamental Tenets of the Satanic Temple in every classroom as well.

Why not display the Egyptians' 42 Negative Confessions, which is where the 10 commandments were taken from.

I preferred to display the ‘Ten Condiments’ in the classroom 😂

This is a MAJOR violation of the student's rights. The VERY FIRST commandment tells them they MUST worship the god of Abraham. Had someone wanted to put up Greek commandments (or any other religion) where you have to worship Zeus they would have a conniption fit.

I see this getting struck down. It violates the bill of rights.

What we need is a “don’t say God” bill.

No one wants this. It violates the 1st amendment.

Blatant violation of church and state.

Either represent all religions or none at all.

Woah, that’s unconstitutional. Allow other religions or non at all

You know what comes right after the ten commandments in the bible? Laws regarding the ownership of slaves. But they probably won't let you say that in a school in Texas.

Nope they shouldn’t have this in schools. There is a time and place for that and it is church. Not school. This is what private Christian schools do. If you want your child to pray and learn about God enroll them there. Public schools shouldn’t be the place for that.

Don't stuff your beliefs down our children's throats! Isn't this illegal?

The first clause in the Bill of Rights states that “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion.”

LOOKS LIKE THIS IS HEADED TO THE SUPREME COURT AGAIN. One would think they'd get tired of debating the same old issue over and over.

On the other hand when you look at another bill being passed simultaneously - allowing staff and students time for prayer - this looks like it could be a push-back effort by a strongly Christian legislature against Islamic efforts to force laws to allowing their beliefs.

Instead of making laws that force the allowance of something, we should be making laws that FORBID the inclusion or laws that prevent exclusion.

It's a violation of the first amendment that it contains church and state to be separate.
