If Batman is broke and Joker is filthy rich... Maybe they'll have a true hate relationship? Like, no weird obsession with the other, pure unfiltered murder intentions from both, maybe Batman breaking his code and having to deal with the mental consequences that doing that brings up to him. That would be interesting

Normally I'd be tired of the "everyone I went to school with became a supervillain or hero" trope in a serious comic book but in this case, it gets a pass due to the origin of this universe.
