If you like the idea of speed entry but want to keep your favourite boots, the Nidecker Supermatic should be top of your (very short!) list. Please note – Nidecker changed some release dates, so the Dune Orange colourway shown in this video is an early peak at a mid-season release. It will be available on 15 January 2025.

Been using the Supermatics for a year now and i can honestly say they are near flawless. A few things to note from my experience;
- If you like a super tight binding, the tighter you go with these the effort to 'step in' becomes significantly harder.
- These have a superb feeling across the top of the foot. The third mini-strap makes you feel super connected to the board
- A few reviews have commented about this being not ideal in powder as you need to press in and the snow compacts, this is partially true but is user specific like my first point alludes, but is completely avoidable as you can use the binding like a normal binding in those deep pow days if the step in function is difficult.
- I had a slight issue with one buckle unlocking and then gradually slipping. I contacted Nidecker who immediately sent me replacement parts and advised its the first they heard the issue. My point here is the support is 10/10.
- These are a heavy feeling binding, but the tradeoff of that slick step-in and go is just so nice.

I got a pair last season - they're really good. Maybe a little bit heavier but not a lot more than my ride c-8s. Flex is good and they feel snug. Didn't have any issue with them feel wise.

The mechanism can get a bit stuck with ice sometimes so getting out can actually be harder than getting in but it's a minor issue.

The only two brands... What about the Clicker by K2? Or Clew?
I really liked the Supermatic, but they need to improve the weight, and I couldn't get the toe strap wrapping my toe. It always got ON my toe, like the old toe straps. Also, they have to think a way to be able to rotate the higback. If they do all this, these bindings will be unbeatable. You can use the boot you want, and you can use them as classic straps bindings (especially in deep pow, step in is a nightmare).

I have last year's model in white, I'd like to try the new carbons though

Carbon is not big of a weight difference but are more stiff for more aggressive riding

Love the supermatic. Been running it the past year. In and out super quick. The downside is they are a bit heavier and can scratch your boot during in and out many times.

I'd say you would wear a hole in rear pants cuffs by continually stepping in and riding with highback and hinge mechanism rubbing on the trapped in fabric.

Burton, flow, & nidcker I'd say. But understandable from a market perspective.

So I tested the Supermatics today and I really like them. They are more convenient than regular bindings and as good as these. But: they aren't as convenient as Burton Step-On. If you are a casual rider, don't go in the park, don't do much else than riding down, I'd go with the Burton-Step Ons, if you want to do more, like deep powder, freestyle, etc. defenitely Nidercker Supermatics. Btw: You can screw off the Heel clicker on you Burton Step-In boots and they kinda work with Nidecker, although the step in function doesn't work, because the front clickers get stuck.

When you finally adjust straps & you can easily step in You realize that straps do not hold your boot perfect and in some tricks but can move. And weight …. Not for me. I sold mine after few days on snow. And the are more cons … this is product commercial not review 😂

Sorry but you are biased when you says there's only TWO brands that tap this market. First of all, if you are putting in the same category Burton Step-ins with Supermatics then I'm sorry but you have no clue ... they are COMPLETELY different in terms of feel, response, hardness of the boot needed, etc. if you want to compare Burton Step-ins, then tou'd have to compare them with K2 Clickers, which are the same category. If you wann compare Supermatics you'd have to compare them with K2 Cinchs, Flow and Clew, as they are more similar than Step-ins are. Mind, I am not questioning your assessment that Supermatics are better then Burton Step-ins, but still, it's like comparing apple to oranges and you saying oranges are better... valid opinion but based on comparing two completely different things. I'd personally agree with that Supermatics have the edge if you prefer the feel of a traditional snowboard boot as opposed to the rigid step-ins, but for example, if you are a skier you'd probably like Step-ins or K2 Clickers better than any supematic (or Clew, Flow or Cinchs). Please do your homework before spewing nonsense comparing apples to oranges. The video would have been far, faaar more useful if you would have focused in comparing Supermatics with Clews, Flow or Cinchs, instead that your clueless and biases " There's only TWO companies that blah blah blah blah".
