Top 10 MORE Normal Monster Support Cards 【Updated for 2023】

In the modern era most decks usually tend to avoid running Normal Monsters, since most of the time it’s better to play monsters with beneficial effects rather than just a vanilla beater that doesn’t do anything else.

But they haven’t been powercrept out of the game entirely - In fact, there are a ton of strategies and cards in the game that revolve around non-effect monsters and innovate how Normal monsters are used, to the point where in recent years, a ton of vanillas have seen quite a bit of competitive play.

So in this video we’re going to go over 10 more of the best Normal Monster support cards in the game, what they do, and how some have managed to make monsters with no effect legitimate meta threats.

I think a top ten worst monster with tons of support would be interesting.

Would love to see a part two of cards that are surprisingly good in Duel Links or if there isn't any/many new cards that qualify maybe do an updated version of the first one.

Yeah Giant Ballpark is super powerfull, especially for the Bee-troopers and any link-4 plays

Just a quick note, Resonance Insect's effect cannot be activated by Giant Ballpark, it needs to be sent from the field to the GY to activate and resolve its effects.

I adore using Piercing the Darkness in my Dark Magician deck purely for opponents realizing too late what types of cards that latter effect still applies to. It not being searchable is a bit of a bummer, but that does at least mean more versatility.

Top 10 Archetype that aged extremely well. With Powercreep being a thing I think that we should give attention to the decks that stood the test of time. An Archetype receives a higher place on the list the older the archetype is, and can still keep up with the best of them.

Appreciate it I am a big fan of getting the most out of normal/non effect monsters

One of my favorite monsters to summon using "Advanced Ritual Art" is Lycanthrope. If you use 6 level 1 normal monsters to summon him, he'll inflict 1200 effect damage every time he inflicts battle damage. He may not be good, but he's fun.

Ive been using Piercing the Darkness in my Red-eyes deck practically since it was released in the tcg, really does help with it's lack of draw power outside of allure

I want to see a list of cards that can spin cards back to the deck. That's what I wanna see. Definitely nice to see some normal monster love though

I cant thank enough how crucial summoners art is, as a Qli player.

From being additional 3 copies of scout, backup plan in case Extravagance got ashed, and finally, add monolith before go full pend attack 😅

The primite and tenyi engines altogether should also be appreciated for keeping us norms in the discussion

I've been playing around with a pure Normal Monster deck on Master Duel. I like using Piercing the Darkness along with Paleozoics.

I played the Beetrooper Deck in the Master Duel Event a while back, so I am VERY well aware of the abuseable power of Gokipole and can say with confidence that if Ballpark wasn't restricted to the Battle Phase then, well, if it never saw the Banned List, well, I don't know what to say!

Speaking of Master Duel, I was playing my Red-Eyes Burndown a while back for the Xyz Summon Daily Challenge, as I simply needed a third Xyz Summon, so decided on Flare Metal Dragon, like I usually do and came across someone playing Dark Magician WITH Piercing the Darkness! He got it on the Field and Dark Magician out and I was left wondering what to do about it exactly, hoping as I do for a Stamping Destruction, when he switched his Dark Magician into Defence Position while I still had two big Dragons on the Field... I won in a couple more Turns... "If you'd kept that thing in Attack Position, it would've given me a headache! Thanks for making my job easier! Idiot!"

As someone who loves the Magikey archetype, I did play less of it when Halq got banned in MD with no good alternative to it to go to Accesscode.

Also, the Earth Normal Monster I use isn't Gene-Warped Warwolf. It's Angel Trumpeter. As a small payoff of 100 ATK points, it's a Tuner, so if I don't have Mafteal (and for a while, Mafteal wasn't in MD), I could still Synchro to the Magikey Synchro or to Final Sigma.

Also, Piercing the Darkness is my favorite Spell card of all time because of Magikey. It just works!

As a metalfoes player it's so nice that I can basically run 3 upstart goblin to search Volflame for free. Normal Pendulum monsters are so interesting I hope we get more decks that try to use them.

As for a vid idea: How about Top 10 budget options for cards that are too expensive? I don't really have the funds (or UR dust 😔) to get 3 magicians' souls, but that won't stop me from running ANTEATEREATINGANT to proc the metalgoes trap card for 2 searches. It's even free backrow removal!
