The KM (Korabl Maket) (Russian: Корабль-макет, literally "Ship-prototype"), known colloquially as the Caspian Sea Monster, was an experimental ground effect vehicle developed in the Soviet Union in the 1960s by the Central Hydrofoil Design Bureau. The unit's ground effect altitude was 4–14 m (13 ft 1 in–45 ft 11 in) while its maximum sea state was 1.2 m (3 ft 11 in). The KM began operation in 1966, and was continuously tested by the Soviet Navy until 1980 when it crashed into the Caspian Sea. The Lun-class ekranoplan now lies in an industrial storage facility in northern Russia. Lun was abandoned after the 1990s collapse of the Soviet Union.

А некоторые обличенные высшей власть утверждали что в СССР только калоши делали! Вот она, Советская "калоша", единственная и неповторимая!

Can you imagine this thing carrying 1500 across the world kind of like an airliner and seeing all types of oceans and animals when on your destination?

Another Soviet snafu, too big, a easy target, burns to much fuel, and the cost overrun must be staggering.
