The ekranoplan Lun’ was built in 1986 at a plant in Nizhny Novgorod. In 1990, after experimental tests, it was adopted by the Caspian Flotilla. In the USSR, this project was absolutely secret, the designers were forbidden even to pronounce the word "ekranoplan".
