vlc used to be able to always play m3u8s and it suddenly stopped working and whenever i look up how to fix it people say vlc was never able to play m3u8 files in the first place and it's confusing me tf out cause vlc has always been able to play m3u8 files

I'm using VLC for download YT even though I've got YT Premium. But I can't keep downloaded videos on YT Premium when they are blocked by YT. What a scandal!
I have z problem with VLC - it can download max 1280 resolution videos :/
Is there a way to fix it? To download full HD or even 4K videos?
