I was taught that safest way to turn it off is to turn off the valve at the tank then at the nozzles. The reason is to avoid a "walk back" of the flame from the torch into the tank which had happened in the past in an explosive way.

Welp. Procedures very depending on demographs. .. for me, acetylene than oxy hit the spoon empty the mixer, than the head. I actually don't remember the proper procedure to Turing off torches, which r actually test questions where I live, academically or practical. Kinda don't care cause, I turn it off pretty much the same way as u do, shop or Feild. ...
