The sorrowful death of Jane Seymour

There has been some debate over time about the specific cause of Janes death, but the common agreement is that it was a result of child birth.

The general consensus at the time of labour were that she suffered a caesarean delivery when giving birth to her son Edward. But the evidence suggests otherwise.

Join us as we look into the death of Queen Jane Seymour and learn about how her funeral was organised, as well as where Jane was finally played to rest.

Thank God for Anesthesia and modern science. Child birth was so deadly back then. Poor Jane died at 29, so young and eventually her son died at 15. May her soul rest in peace.

All of Henry’s wives lead sad lives. But at least she wasn’t decapitated.

Interesting. I always took it for granted she died as a result of puerperal sepsis. But watching your video reminds me of my mum once telling me she probably died as the result of a blood clot. They are more common in pregnant or women who have recently given birth. So, even if Jane did not die as a result of childbirth it would have. Plus, as you said, if she had already been sick with food poisoning she would already have been dehydrated as you said, making her weaker. Poor old Jane.

After Henry married Jane, Mary was brought back to court while Elizabeth was seemingly tucked out of site and neglected. Even her governess had to write begging for funds to provide for Elizabeth.

I read somewhere that Edward was positioned face up, which causes labor to be lengthy, causing Shoulder dystocia . Edward had one shoulder lower than the other. Which happens due to the positioning. Midwives are trained to reposition the baby, but Henry insisted that doctors should supervise. Has anyone else heard this ?

Just think, in those days, no one went to the hospital, and lived. If they were ill, and worsening, everyone new they would probably die! Such a stark contrast from today where people have forgotten fairly recent history in terms of the age of the planet!

In 82 I had a full hard labor of 52hrs without so much as Tylenol, I was 17. I never screamed, yelled or cried but 4hrs before they took her I screamed, She's dying. It took almost an hour before I was checked. I had been dilated at 10 for over 3hrs and she had been stuck half way out, before the C-section. Also being the idiots they were they had broke my water 2 days prior. We both almost lost Our Lives. I thank God everyday for saving us both

My birth experience was 2001. My son and I would have died. Now he is 20yo. We survived.
Poor Jane ❣️

I honestly believe she bled out, that as well as infection and shock. The last two I myself died of after a 3 day of hard labor 40 years ago

I hate to ask you to do more work, but is there any way you could set up more playlists and add the relevant videos to the existing playlists? I only ask because you know in which particular order these videos work best. Your videos are excellent as a standalone work, but being able to see the fuller picture through a dedicated playlist would be wonderful. Thank you so very much!

You stated that Edward was born October 12th 1537 at 2am and later in the video that Jane died on October 12th at 2am? Please clarify.

Yeah you are right if she had died from a botched c/section she would have died that day she died like several days later after the birth of Edward .
