Can you beat Mario Kart 8 Deluxe WITHOUT Accelerating?!

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe requires the player to drive around the track by accelerating with the A button. But what if I ignore this feature entirely? What shenanigans will allow me to achieve a first place finish?

Perhaps collecting coins whenever possible may also help! They increase your top speed and essentially your boost speed, which might help you reach some item sets sooner!

I think its funny that the golden mushroom finally got its opportunity to be the best item, and it still can screw you over if it doesn't run out in time.

I feel like this challenge can be fairly optimized if u plan to tackle the rest of the game, such as using bullets since they are slightly rarer than goldens and bots won’t be pulling them that much.

Secondly, DLC characters from MK8DX don’t have rivals so potentially it could make bots a little bit easier, as if not mistaken it’s just randomly assigned and the lightweight computers would have less speed making goldens slightly worse.

Lastly, if u hop while driving you accelerate slightly faster than just holding down the A/B button, and it is especially noticeable when using a mushroom. It would be helpful to gain a little more distance when backing up at the start and would make goldening slightly more effective as u spend less time accelerating and more time at top speed.
