Black panthers actually have spots they are just very hard to see because the spots are black so it blends in with shiny black coat.

Jaguar or leopards, can become a black colour because of their mutation.but the difference is jaguar are more muscular and leopard are little bit skinner....

A black panther is the melanistic colour variant found in members of the genus Panthera, particularly of the leopard in Asia and Africa, and the jaguar in the Americas.

1:27 pause will reveal that black leopards also have spots. Before they noted it seconds later.

the jaguar is more beautiful, bigger and stronger than the leopard. I live near the Pantanal (the largest wetland in the world) in Brazil, where they are the largest in the world. there is a lot of cattle breeding here, so the jaguar often feeds on cattle, which creates conflict with the farmers, which are perhaps the biggest threat to the jaguar.VISIT THE PANTANAL.

Bout time that was cleared up so precisely! It’s like all the nature shows think we know this. I had no idea that Leopards AND Jaguars could be Panthers.
I thought it was more a Cougar/Mountain Lion type of thing.

Even though their ecological roles in their respective habitats are entirely different, with the Jaguar playing a similar role as the tiger does in his, leopards and jaguars are so closely related that they readily interbreed in captivity if given the opportunity.

in fact, jaguars are found in American, but not in the US, they were hunted to extinction in USA, and as the panther can also be a jaguar, but a black jaguar, it is not found in the US, it is mainly Found in Brazil, as well as common jaguars.. and the pumas are also almost not found in the united states, most of them are found in that small part of the country, or in Mexico, and most pumas are also found in Brazil, but they are also found in Canada.

I would like to point out that panther is just another name for a cougar or a mountain lion but your right black panthers are not only panthers but Jaguars and Leopards too.

As far as I'm aware, we've yet to observe melanism in lions, tigers, and cheetahs(the other three big cat species besides jaguars and leopards). While it's theoretically possible, it's not yet been observed, or at least photographed. It should be noted, Pumas(puma concolor) is not considered a Big Cat species.

In Asia and Africa, black leopards are considered black panthers. In North and South America, black jaguars are considered black panthers. This means that these two big cats have the same name.

1:00 there's possibly a variant of this cat in the bobcat form in Mississippi, are we to assume it is cougar, or can it be just bobcat?
