How much to feed a turtle? How often? Today we're focusing on the quantity of food and how often you should be feeding a turtle.
Typically, I like to schedule my feedings so that I can make sure I'm feeding my turtles consistently. A calendar is a great tool to track this.

A couple years ago my son told me that turtles were actually supposed to be able to pull their head and legs back into their shell! Can you imagine that? I cut back a bit on how much I was feeding them. Little beggers!

If I feed my turtle as much as she can eat in 15 minutes she might eat over 20 pellets :p

Hi! Do you feed your turtle just pellets? I was told that was too high in protein and could cause pyramiding. I have a turtle myself and have been doing some of my own research. I may think some of your facts are wrong. Turtles need lots of veggies. I don’t know about your turtle types needs but, red ear sliders do need veggies. Maybe the next time you do a video like this add the veggies part? And please mention live food little bit more! This is giving the impression that turtles only need a pellet diet. Which is wrong. :(

I bought the coolest red eared slider at pet smart. He looks like a golden to me but not sure.

My red eared slider (5-6in length) is so picky. It doesn't want to eat any veges, not even fruits lol.
Today I tried wrapping a pellet in a small thin piece of lettuce.
The result was it took a bite and immediately spit it back out.
Then it just moved away from it.
1 hour later, it never took a bite.
Sometimes I would leave a 3-4inx2in lettuce leaf overnight and the next morning, it's still intact in perfect condition, haha.
The things that he? would eat so far are hard boiled egg, raw shrimp, and pellets. :'(
So far he? rejected lettuce, bok choi, cauliflower, grapes (sliced), thinly sliced carrot (from the tip's end), and thinly sliced small piece of apple.

All your videos are amazing! We just got an albino red eared turtle for Christmas and I am trying to educate myself on care. How often do we feed a baby red eared slider? And how often clean tank? Also, after we clean the tank so we need a new calcium tablet? Thank you 😊

Sooo... I have a yellow belly slider, her shell is 6" in length her age is unknown. Would it make sence to feed her veggies daily and reptomin pellets 3x a week? The pellet directions say you should feed 2x a day? I'm sooo confused 😩. I did change her off of the "growth formula" which seemed to cause her to start pyramiding. 😬 any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, I want my turtle to be healthy.

I have inherited my daughters turtle who is a little guy. I feed him every other or third day and on the second day of no feeding I give him a small amount of lettuce. Is this OK. I feed him dried shrimp and these green turtle dried little stringy things. I am not sure exactly what kind of turtle he is however he was purchased at the boardwalk at Daytona Beech four years ago.
