The greatest musicians of all have an unmatched command of rhythm which allows them to unlock the underlying logic of the music in ways that others cannot. I think we can safely say Fedorova is one of those musicians with that supreme command.

I know this waltz very well, indeed play it myself (though to nothing like this standard of course!), and I've rarely felt such a transformation during the course of the five minutes. I found the first section, around 80 bars, unconvincing, with quite stiff playing at one moment, then excessive rubato. But when it came to the meno mosso section, the pianist found a different groove and started to swing. She carried this expansive swinging style through to the end, with great emotional effect.

Exceptional performance. Please don't tell me one insignificant wrong note is why she missed the third stage - the judges would have to be some kinds of precision fixated morons - this was a truly wonderful performance.

An utter joke that she didn't make it to the finals. I have heard this waltz in all kinds of ways and at least to my ear she really brings light and jolly to this waltz. The judges we're on something.
