He was a good representative. I didn't agree a lot with him politically or a lot of his views but I felt like his views he truly held and thought were the best for all of us not just his party. When a partisan issue came up he did what us his constituents want not what his party wanted. During his campaign for president when people called Obama a Muslim for said he was the devil himself he said no Obama is a good man. In his 2008 speech of concession, he said "I had the honor of calling Senator Barack Obama" when the crowd started booing he stopped them and said Obama was a good man and demands not only his respect but all of our respect. That is the type of character that we all should aspire to. As an Arizonan that grow up knowing his stories in the war and how honorable he was. That inspired not only me and my great state but all of America and the world. He is one of the only politicians I will deeply miss. He was one of the last of his time but I hope to see government representatives with his character back soon. I hope that mark kelly fills his seat well. godspeed Mr.John McCain godspeed

I'm nowhere near a Republican, but I always respected John McCain. I don't agree with most of what he believes but I respect how independent he is on some issues instead of towing the party line. I wish more people from both parties would do the same.

But he shouldn't have beat himself up, there's nothing he could have done to win in 2008, the country was ready for change. No Republican would have won.
