For everybody who’s nervous, I’ll start out by saying healing varies between person to person, but I just had all 4 removed yesterday, I had minimal pain, still have miniminal pain, no swelling, my bleeding stopped last night and I feel fine, I think the anxiety behind getting it done is what freaks people out along with horror stories you shouldn’t listen to, take your oral surgeon or dentists advice n follow it and you should be fine

YOU WILL BE FINE, I PROMISE. I just wanted to add a comment here as all of your experiences really helped me. I had mine out yesterday (two on the same side, one was fully erupted but the other one was impacted). I had IV sedation. Getting the IV in was seriously so easy, I spoke to the dental assistant and didn't look so had no idea it was happening. The procedure itself was so quick, I put some music on in my noise cancelling earphones and even though I was definitely still conscious I was completely calm and sort of outside of my own body. Once it was all over, I just went home and didn't say anything silly, I felt in complete control of myself. The pain isn't bad, I'm just taking the medicine they gave me. Seriously I promise you will be okay, this is such an everyday routine for dentists.

My tips
- Exercise the morning of, if you have time
- If you're especially anxious, ask if you can take a valium beforehand
- Stock up on soft food you actually like
- Take recovery seriously so you don't get dry socket (my biggest priority rn)
- Ice packs!
- Play music in your earphones if you can
- My sedationist wrapped me in a blanket which was very comforting, maybe ask if you can bring one
- Set alarms for your meds
- Have some fun activities lined up!

Sending you all love. xx

Its nearly 4am and I've been having panic attacks repeatedly all throughout today and yesterday. I have an anxiety disorder and I'm so stressed I can't sleep and I feel nauseous. I have a sever phobia of needles and stitches and I don't know how I'm going to manage. The whole process horrifies me and I still don't know when I'm going to get it done. I also have twitches which cause me to jerk around uncontrollably, so the IV is even scarier because of that. I'm just absolutely balling rn, I'm so incredibly stressed idk what to do. :(

I am getting all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled in a little over a week. Your video and the comments underneath them are really helping me soothe my nerves. Thank you all for that.

Hey! I had my wisdom teeth out a few weeks ago and had a good experience so I wanted to share.

Going into it I was REALLY nervous, particularly for the IV. The nurses were really nice, and they talked me through everything. Knowing exactly what was going to happen definitely put me more at ease. When the IV went in, it was just a poke (like a vaccine) and after that there was no discomfort, it just felt like something was sitting on my arm. After that I closed my eyes and waited for the anesthesia to kick in. It felt just like falling asleep normally. When I woke up I wasn't in any pain, and I wasn't loopy. The "numbness" in my mouth felt kind of strange, but after a couple of hours it had mostly wore off, and I could talk pretty normally. The strongest pain medication I needed while recovering was ibuprofen. The most uncomfortable part for me was the swelling, but ice packs (and steroids if prescribed) really help with that.

About 3 weeks after my surgery I did have to go back to have an infection cleaned out (I have a small mouth and my gum may have tried to heal over one of my other teeth), but besides that I had a really easy recovery. I wish I could go back in time and tell myself there was no reason to freak out over the surgery :)

If you're about to have your wisdom teeth out I wish you the best of luck, and I bet it's probably not as bad as you're thinking it is!

You're the ONLY person who's described the actual anesthesia feeling. Thank you!! That's what's freaking me out. I'll be having 4 wisdoms and a molar extracted 😫. We'll see how this goes 🤞🏾

To anyone awaiting the surgery, it's not the procedure that's scary, it's the pain you feel afterwards that's the real kicker.

I'm on day 2 now and I'm not in any pain thanks to my meds but one side of my face is pretty swollen.

Frozen vegetable packs or ice packs are a good source of instant relief though if needed.

tip for everyone getting IV anesthesia, it's not that bad as someone that has to get an IV monthly. If you have a good nurse the IV should be in in just one second and you'll only feel a small sharp pain if it's numbed good. Make sure to drink water because it's supposed to make your veins bigger and easier to get the IV into, otherwise they might have to fish around and it'll hurt a lot, I've had it happen once before. Also just try to stay calm. If you tense up then you can make it super hard to get the IV into the vein.

Having it in 10 minutes... A bit nervous haha, I'll let y'all know about how it goes if I remember this comment lmao

I just finished! I used the IV sedation and I would hundred percent use it again. I had all four removed and it was a dream, pain is minimal and I wasn't loopy at all! I'ma typing this exactly 15 minutes after doing it! So for everyone don't worry about it... It may seem scary but it wasn't at all

This is a long while after, but I did end up getting a dry socket. If you feel any pain just call an go to the dentist and they'll fix it right up!

I have mine after tomorrow and I’m still so scared, you definitely made me feel better about the recovery time, I’m glad to hear you’re eating back to normal after eight days. I have a huge texture problem so I have no idea what I’m going to eat besides ice cream😭. And the anesthesia I’m definitely nervous for but you made it sound not so bad, I know it’s not going to be horrible but still oh my goddd😭😭

Thank you for your recount, it has proven to be a most comforting experience in my preparation for my surgery tomorrow.

I was super nervous af for the sedation cuz I’ve never done it before, yet when it finally happened, that shit was fucking awesome, literally it’s like u teleport from one moment to the next, it’s wicked 😹 u feel nothing u don’t know wat happened and suddenly ur walking down to recovery, the closest comparison I can make is like a scene change in a show where it changes from one scene to the next and that’s just it

I got all 4 removed yesterday with topical anesthesia. My dentist was making baby voices to me and saying silly stuff. My mouth was too numb and I was afraid of choking but it was just a fear I was able to swallow even though my mouth was numb. And then the whole process took 35 minutes. 3 were impacted and needed stitches and the last one I felt a lot of pressure when he pulled it. No pain. Some of the instruments were kind of tickling me and I was whining as I heard the cracking sounds. But in general it was all good. Not too bad. Now my face is very swollen.

I dont know where all those youtubers go, but my wisdom tooth removal was wayyy different then all of them! It was regular anesthesia, i wasnt high, it literally took 2 minutes to take them out. after 20 minutes i was out of the dentist!
Im on day 2 right now, or 18 hour into it and i dont know if its the amount of advil they told me to take but i have zero pain, zero Puffiness, its just a bit hard to open my mouth!
If you're getting yours remove, dont panick, you might be lucky and you wont even feel it! I was literally so scared, because i always react so bad to everything and it really wasnt anything.
The most uncomfortable part was sleeping in a 45 degree angle last night lol

I just got my surgery yesterday and my mouth hurts sooo much :( the weirdest part for me was that after they did the IV thing I was partially awake when it was happening (even though my eyes were closed lol) like I remember feeling the string when they were giving me stitches and also hearing them talking and stuff but I didn't feel anything cause they gave me anesthesia lmao also im only 14 so hopefully it should heal pretty quick (luckily i only needed to take 2 out)

I had my surgery two days ago for my wisdom teeth. I have six wisdom teeth ((Yeah crazy)). So like the day before the surgery at night I have to take a pill to calm my nerves down and that didn't really help. The day of the surgery I took another two pills to calm my nerves it actually worked that time. Then we went to the doctor place. I was like thinking whats gonna happen after I wake up, will I remember. That type of stuff.. So we drove up and we had to call them to get in and this time they were super quick about us getting us into the dentist. I was like what the heck. Usually their like take their time. Anyway we go in they bring me to this room like a regular looking room, but kinda bigger in a way. I lay down on the chair and the doctors assistant is like the doctor will be here shortly. In my mind, I was like uhhh okay... I was nervous but like I wasn't because the pills were like fighting off the nervousness in a way. So she lowers the chair so it can be flat. She does blood pressure and puts this nose thing aka oxgen thing. Then the next part is pretty weird the chair thing lifts up and they table with supplies is like over me ((a thin tall table)). The doctor comes in and askes me if I'm nervous and I say of course I am. He asks if I have any questions then I say no. They grabbed the needle and I was lowkey scared, but when they put it in my air it legit felt like nothing... Which is kinda weird. Also I didn't feel a thing with the oxygen. I barely remember the part after I closed my eyes to pretend like I fell asleep LOL. I could hear their voices talking about something random then the doctor was looking in my mouth, but it didn't hurt. After that all of a sudden they were done?! Just like that it's super weird. I heard the doctors assistant. I was like should I wake up... Then I decided to close my eyes for a while just in case I opened it while they were doing the surgery. After one minute I opened my eyes no one was in the room. Then the doctors assistant comes and askes how I'm doing. I say good. I also didn't know they put the tissues in my mouth. I laid there for a good 6 minutes then she took me out to my car and I was really dizzy, but very aware. Overall It's not that scary as I thought it was gonna be. I have six wisdom teeth and it isn't that sore actually well the first day was sore. It depends who the person is I guess.

Edit: Oh and I'm 15
