20 years ago with failing health I found out I had Crohns disease. At that time I had been financially ok, but I had lost my job, and without much savings I had to depend on credit cards to survive. I learned my lesson after ramping up credit card debt and having to go through a consumer proposal that I can't depend on crippling credit/debt. Now I have different investments and savings in case of an emergency. If I buy anything on credit its because I have it backed. Illness is expensive. Luckily I live in Canada, I cant imagine having to deal with US health care costs.

No wonder, just read an article on Zero Hedge stating the CPI is approximately 40% lower than what food actually costs. Just college tuition alone has nearly quadrupled over the last 3 or 4 decades. I know a young man that didn't even finish his degree and owes 150, 000 in student loans. Very sad.

Since the 2008 crises, many people have survived by using various debt instruments to get food and shelter: student loan refund money hustle, "disability" claims, credit cards, raiding retirement money funds, working in MLM and direct sales, pyramid scams, working 3-4 retail jobs at low wages, eating less food, eating cheap food, downsize to live in RV's or Vans, ect.

All these things kept people afloat...but now inflation is so out of control as the dollar dies it's last stage death, that even doing these things including living off debt just ain't working.

Perhaps people should buy cheaper foods... I notice an awful lot of convenience foods in people's carts, and always lines at the drive thrus we drive past. Learn to cook and learn to cook for more than one meal. Take home cooked food for lunch and search the ads for the best prices. Use your time productively to eat better for much less. YouTube will teach you how.
