When Africa invented modern education: Timbuktu

A Sudanese proverb declared, "Salt comes from the north, gold from the south, silver from the land of white men, but the word of God and the treasures of wisdom come from Timbuktu." This city played a crucial role in transmitting knowledge from African intellectuals to the larger Islamic world, in a manner not reflected in other educational institutions of the time.

Whenever they say that Africa never independently developed writing, iron-smelting, muliple-storey architecture, state-building, city-planning, etc., it's always nothing but projection. Another great video, King.

This is so inspiring it's disturbing. I'm inspired that the ancient texts are being digitized and excited for it but disturbed that such an influential foundational institution would be so disrespected by the ignorant world of racists salivating at the idea of corrupting every form of wisdom they come in contact with out of self hatred and cooperation with confusion.

Enjoying the production value my brother, well researched and narrated, quality work. Reminds me a lot of the words of wisdom dropped on us by the great Dr Ivan Van Sertima.

Thank you for this, it is important to look at other river valleys of Africa, I know Kmt and the Nile Valley complex is very important and should not be ignored but those other river valleys and complexes are of equal importance and at times just as old, for one, I'd like someone with graphic skills, to do a mock up the Dhar Tititchit complex and later Wagadu cities as they would appear, right now all we have is their hollowed out shells and post that hinted of a once great past, this is a challenge for anyone with the skills and inclination, to run with it..👊🏾

Don't forget the Mande script was also used in Mali which is an indigenous west African writing script as well as Lybico-berber. Peace

Thank you so much for making this video. As a "Black" American Muslim, it's frustrating trying to explain the long, long history of "black" Indigenous Americans and African Muslim history. There's an idea that Islam was spread through Arab Imperialism that directly affected many African nations; however, Islam spread separately as a religion outside of Arab imperialism and colonization long before Arab Muslims and pagans began expanding their rule. The presence of Islam in America and Africa is not due to slavery, but the basic belief in this religion being the correct and basic business systems such as trade. There were many Indigenous and African empires/nations that had Muslim rulers and citizens. Note: That Quranic Arabic and Moorish Arabic is different than Arabian Peninsula Arabic.
