Beginner piano players START HERE:

The longer I study, teach, and play the piano, the more I realize just how important intervals are. If you want to sight read quickly, create mood with your improvisations and compositions, and play anything you hear by ear, you need to begin to understand intervals.

In this video I will be showing you how different intervals sound as well and appear on the staff. We will begin with the more common intervals and work our way up to some more complex sounds and concepts.

I started as I wanted to learn to sing, which lead me to notes then to scales, then to chords, then to intervals and hear I am

Eureka effect, 'the sudden, unexpected realization of the solution to a problem.' I'd almost given up on studying how to read sheet music until this moment. What a teacher you are! Michael

Wow, where have you’ve been all my life! Like a door to the next level opened in my head. It coincides with the book I chose to start again with. Thank you for giving meaning to those word I’ve ignored for a long time. 😊

Your a great teacher. I've started playing intervals and chords. Just want to know have the harmonic intervals to be held down untill the next interval.

Great video! How exactly do you identify Major and Minor intervals on the piano? Would flats be minor and sharps be major? Or is it something else?

Augmented is a half step whenever raises and lowered is diminished

Merci for this. I thought you should have left the scale on the screen even when you talked about augmented, diminished and minor intervals. I still have to learn playing by reading, so every little bit helps.

is that mean when you going from Perfect 4th to half note shift is called augmented 4th and when you backwards half note from 5th is called diminished 5th, is it correct for defining the specific interval?

Why is it called Diminished 5th? Why not call it a minor 5th?
