Wow, that's a beautiful hub 🤩

In my opinion the Classic Onyx hub also looks a lot better than the Vespers, I heard the earlier gen of Vespers suffered from slipping issues, but apparently these have been resolved

Anyhow I totally agree that if your going to invest in a hub might as well get the burlier version, especially since the added weight is in the centre of the wheel

Doug, I've been back to ss since June on a Kona Honzo ti which I love. After lots of research and endorsement by my local LBS, I chose the Onyx Vesper hub for features I wanted most- instant engagement and silence. I didn't know anything really about the former but I have mid-level hearing loss and ironically, some loud sounds, such as i9 hubs, are way too loud so I spent the big $ on the Vesper and I am well pleased thus far. What's unknown is what happens if it needs to be serviced. I'm a horrible mechanic and I've heard that Onyx is not good with customer care so time will tell. But I must add that before riding the Onyx I had a question and the rep at Onyx HQ responded quickly so I'm hopeful. I look forward to your review.
