Someone on Twitter pointed out why a lot of the scenes only show Anya and Yor, and it’s because those are all Loid’s POV and it’s just so cute!!!

This OP is so beautiful that if you pause at any point, that frame can be use as a wallpaper.

Didn't expect this kind of a glow up from the 2nd opening, don't get me wrong the first opening was cute but this, THIS IS BEAUTIFUL

0:58 This bit really made my cry.. "How should I begin to describe this way home you've given me?"
For Anya & Loid, and to some degree Yor too - they didn't really have something to be called a home / family before meeting each other. And now suddenly every day after the work or school they all come back to the same place.. They've given each other something to be called a home.

The ending part with Loid just looking like an ordinary dad and husband with a genuinely happy look on his face just tugs at my heart so much. This show is propaganda to make a family, I swear! 😂

Love the transition here 1:06. It's so deep, from pointing the gun at someone to pointing a gun in a shooting game. It seems Loid has grown attached to his new family and the music is so soothing. Can't wait to see his backstory animated

My favorite part of this opening is when the sun shines down on Loid upon seeing his family, dawning on him that he has grown to love them beyond the scope of his mission

Slice of life, shounen, romance, war... Never thought this would blend together

The first time I saw the opening I cried.
This opening is more focused in the relationships, specially the relationship mom-daughter Anya and Yor are forging; all those shots with Yor and Anya having fun and acting like an all life family melted my heart. I really hope the anime gives us more scenes with Anya and Yor being family.
Also, I felt like if this opening was from Loid POV, because he appears so little, and when he does, it's just for moments, sometimes it feels like is he's watching Yor and Anya growing around him.
Oh and don't forget about Bond, the best boy.

For me, it's inevitable to smile everytime I watch the opening, what an art piece.

Knowing that Yor is looking at Loid, and the way she is at 1:00 is just so heartwarming. I don't think I've ever been as invested in a fictional family as I am right now.

Op 1: got the hype tone
Op 2: beautiful scenery and artstyle

If you remember JJK, this applies to that as well

I love how the lyrics are basically Loid singing about how he was alone before he found his family. It’s so darn wholesome.

I love how they show the Forgers not as the fake family like they showed in the first OP but I like how in this OP they show them as a real family more than a spy/esper/assasin

The beautiful thing about this show is that Loid and Yor gives Anya something the both of them missed out on, the freedom of being a child.

Some of the reasons why this opening is AMAZING.

1. Use of light
wonderful use of light/dark contrasts to express the joys of their relationship while addressing the "shadow" parts that they are keeping from each other. For instance, all shots in which Loid is alone are dark or monochromatic. Also, most shots are in a "twilight" color palette which gives a perpetual sense of this light/dark, joy/secrets dichotomy.

2. Use of direction to indicate where the next scene is going
The characters and frames move, turn, and direct us where the next frame is going to go, giving the eyes a logical place to follow. Also gives a lot of information about the character; i.e. when Loid looks away from his family at the dinner table and on the trolley, his face is concerned, distracted, and serious as though he's looking back towards his mission. However, in the last scene he smiles as he keeps his eyes on them.

3. SOUVENIR is thematically PERFECT for the show
From the translations I've read, it seems to be about someone who is used to hurrying or understanding his having a deeper appreciation of all the "scenes" of their life through another person or persons they consider their "home". This person(s) have given them not only a new scenes to "put ribbons on" and "keep as souvenirs", but a path to always return home to. I don't know how this ISN'T this family, but especially Loid, in a nutshell. Also helps that its mood is relatively steady and contemplative with a GREAT chorus.

This Opening shows how much more creative animation studios are getting over the years.

The more I watch this opening, the more I fall in love with the symbolism. This is gonna be a long analysis.

The flowers representing Anya, her innocence, and the color she brings to the lives of Loid and Yor, and it's lasting effects. The autumn leaves representing the less colorful and more realistic view of Loid and Yor who lack Anya's childlike innocence. All of the scenes that paint the picture too!

Starting off, as the family gets ready for breakfast bathed in warm colors, Loid's attention is caught by something outside of there window. We then see Agent Twilight on the balcony of an unfamiliar house in cold colors, creating a distinct disconnect between Loid as a truly caring family man, and Loid as a spy.

Yor, dressed for her assassin work, lying on a floor of leaves. There are a few flowers in shot, most obscured to different degrees in the background, but one pink flower in particular is fully revealed and lying atop Yor's hair. In the next frame, we see Yor dressed as a housewife, helping Anya to take care of her hair. Beautiful parallel.

Anya peering through a leaf with a natural hole in it like a lens in a field of flowers happily, while in the next shot she is in school surrounded by dreary colors, looking down at the same leaf with wide eyes. Anya takes great joy in using her powers to see the world as adults see it, but it weighs heavily on her when she has to face that same world. Then we see it was Yor who caught the leaf, but there was no hole in the leaf, further cementing it's relation to Anya's ability.

We see Loid and Yor at their cover jobs. We then see Yor as an assassin in cold colors before cutting to her comforting her sad brother in warm colors, showing her compassion. Anya then appears in cold colors, and looks towards the camera. We have already seen this in the first episode, meaning we are in Loid's perspective, and following Yor's trend from the previous shots, implies that what follows will be Loid's compassion. However, we see no imagery of such, because the story we are watching will be Loid's compassion arc. Yor never lacked compassion, but Loid had none until after he met Anya.

As falling autumn leaves are suddenly joined by flowers, we see Loid stoically taking a trolley in colder colors. Something then catches his attention outside. We get a brief part of Anya playing in a park, implied to have happened earlier by the transition to Anya and Yor, showing why they were out together. They then see Loid, who got off of the trolley to meet with them, and as they run over the light shines even brighter on the family. This is in stark contrast to the previous cold colors accompanied by Loid's spy work, which he left behind to see his family, something that would have been very out of character for him before.

Then we see the whole family driving down the road, as exclusively flowers flutter past them, the autumn leaves out of sight high in the sky or on the ground beneath them. In this moment, their worries have all but vanished, and they can bask in the beautiful moment as a family.

In between a number of scenes where Anya plays with Yor and Loid at an amusement park, we see Anya with flowers sprouting from her head, further strengthening her ties to them as a symbol. We next see a flock of birds form a heart high above even the flowers, untouchable by the leaves. Anya and Yor are also seen, likely by Loid, playing in a field as mother and child. These same birds were not in any formation in an earlier scene in the opening. We then briefly see acorns, pinecones, and flowers ready to bloom after winter, symbolizing a new beginning for life both new and old corresponding to the family members.

There is a brief scene where Yor looks to the camera and gives a deeply caring expression, with only falling leaves in the background implying we are in Loid's perspective. A short but sweet showing of how much Yor values Loid.

We then see a white crane take flight from a river. White Cranes represent good fortune, known as a bird of paradise, and rivers represent change. This spells good tidings for the Forger family.

Loid is walking down the street at night, not showing his eyes, before raising a gun and firing at the camera. As the shot is fired, the imagery cuts to Loid playing in a shooting game for Anya at the same amusement park shown earlier. This serves both as a parallel between his two lives, and Loid's inner resistance as a spy to becoming a family man. Yor is seen swinging her blade among leaves and flowers, seeming to actively target the leaves, before allowing a single flower to gently fall and be cradled on her blade. These flowers represent Anya, her constant presence in Yor's thoughts, and how Yor has dedicated herself to being a good mother to Anya.

Briefly we see Anya and Becky walking together, the absence of flowers and presence of leaves pointing to this being Loid watching over them as part of his spy work. However, the colors are warm and there is no background, showing that he is focused on Anya as opposed to his spy work, even if that is why he is there.

We get a short shot of Yor staring out of the window at leaves as she hugs Anya, with a somewhat solemn expression, displaying her own inner turmoil. Afterwards, we see Anya running in the school with determination, surrounded by cold colors. This represents Anya doing her best to help, namely with the mission, even if she is in over her head.

Second to last, we see a scene of the whole family walking together in warm colors. While there are no flowers, there are hardly any leaves, and Loid has a very soft smile on his face watching over his family. This is a quiet and peaceful moment, where Loid doesn't need the colors of the flowers to turn him away from the leaves of reality, as his full attention is already on his family.

Finally, we get the last shot, introduced with 2 red ribbons tying together, referencing the red string of fate. The ribbons have tied themselves around a basket of flowers, symbolizing the bond of Loid and Yor as they care for and cherish Anya. Additionally, the various seeds and the leaf with a hole have been placed along with the basket. There is also a lamp with a flower pattern on it, and 2 vases. These vases, one for Loid and Yor respectively, show the intent to keep the flowers, representing Anya and the memories made with her, for the long term. Lastly, the lamp is there so that even when the sun goes down and the warm colors fade to welcome darkness, they will still be able to keep what they have in the light.

If you've read all of this, you must like this opening a lot too! Some will think I've read into this too much, maybe I have, but that this opening can inspire so much thought is a beautiful merit in it's own way, right?

This opening is simply beautiful. Love how they show the joys of having a loving close knit family in such a poetic way alongside the gorgeous animation too. It’s honestly gives off a nostalgic feel to me seeing that I experienced similar memories at the carnival and general family time outdoors with my own family as a kid growing up. 10/10 opening for real.
