ABOUT ME

I’m 34 years old and I’m a sheep farmer from Ayrshire in South West Scotland, which is why I have such a strong accent! I was born and raised on a sheep farm watching my dad who was the shepherd.
At 18 I went away from farming to work in the city s a Police Officer and at 23 (2013) I decided I wanted to do something for some extra money so I went on a sheep shearing course. The hardest thing I’ll ever do was learning to shear sheep. [shudders thinking about it]
I shore whilst on my holidays from work for 2 years and then in 2015 my dad died so I decided to get my own sheep so I could continue working with sheep as it was something I loved doing. From there it escalated quickly from my first 4 sheep in my mum’s garden to now running around 1200 breeding ewes.
A few years ago I bought myself a sheep pregnancy scanner and have been building up my run since then.
I watched a few farm vlogs on YouTube and decided I could have a go and now here we are!
Since starting The Sheep Game I have met Lizzy and had two incredible boys Jock and Angus and one incredible girl, Bonnie. You will see them all on this channel!

Thanks for watching my videos and please subscribe if you want to see more in future.

Thank you for keeping in that totally heartmelting moment when Jock points to your legs and says "Daddy, long legs!" I love the way kids play with words and meanings!

I wish someone had given me a maggot to hold when I was little. If they had, I probably would not be so creeped out by them now. Your boys and Bonnie have the best classroom and teachers.❤❤️❤️
It cracks me up when the sheep just randomly leap into the air.

I love that y'all let Jock spray that lamb and your patience letting him try and try. Angus snuggles with the wool was adorable.

One of my old family dogs got fly strike once. We didn't know until my dad heard her softly whining at night. He screamed for everyone to get up and went into panic mode. Hauled her into the bathtub and we spent the next hour removing maggots. Then she went to the vet, got shaved, and they found a few more. Poor girl. 🤢

I noticed last time that Bonny has what my daughter’s doctor called a stork bite. My daughter had one right between her eyes and it eventually faded away. You could never tell that she had one, she’s all grown up now, but I just wanted to share that little bit of information with you, I’m sure you know that though. Bonny is a beautiful little girl. And I hope that she keeps her red hair. Two of my granddaughters have beautiful red hair. I’m wondering if it is a Scottish trait because my husband is 3/4 Scottish so maybe it was somehow passed down the line. The two granddaughters are one each from my two daughters so I’m hoping somehow the Scottish was passed down. 🎃🍁💚🙃

Jock: "Look Gran"....I got a Maggot." @9:50 The look on Joy's face is priceless! Love seeing Gran in the videos. The boys are blessed to have her for a Grandma.

Poor little lamb, 😢 I'm so glad that Lizzy saw the fly strike before it was hurting them.

I love watching your parenting, both of you show endless patience and your boys have so much desire to work through problems and help. Give it a couple of years and they'll be a huge help making up for the extra time you spend now. So enjoyable to watch.

I love the way you teach your kids everything. You include them in everything. They have to be the most loved kids I know. Lizzie has a great eye for the animals. Miss’s nothing.

I love your videos like this. The education you are giving your children is absolutely fantastic. I’m sure they already know more about farming sheep than I ever will. It’s brilliant to see kids being kids allowed to figure things out & have a go at everything ❤

Good catch on the flystrike there, was very funny that Jock was so thrilled to hold a maggot 😂
Congrats on taking second and third in the game there!

Your patience when Jock was spraying the sheep was incredible. You both gave him guidance but still let him attempt it on his own. Then, when you let him hold the maggots to learn. A lot of city slicker wouldn't let their kids touch it at all. You both make great parents.

The stuff you use to attack the maggots is amazing stuff. You don't need to use a lot, but the maggots sure don't like it. I never had a problem with fly strike when I had sheep. I live in Alberta, Canada, weather different from yours.

Thanks for sharing your lives with us.😊 🇨🇦

LOL Cammy, you are in trouble, I think Lizzy wants a second Girl, to balance out the boys and so she and those daughters can create a White Dorset Dynasty!
Loved the game at the end, I couldn't do it due to back injuries, but it looks fun!
Glad the Lambs are being spotted and treated for fly strike, UGH, that's such a nightmare. Belived it or not, out German Sheppard had a very mild case of Fly Strike, here in South-West Virginia, US! His bum is very shaggy, and we had to comb his butt every hour, we used an herbal oil on his fur and skin, and it worked really well, he was fine in about 3 days. [We used a topical oil of Thyme, and Calendula oil to help hydrate his skin after the Thyme started to dry him out too much.]

We're still on watch for fly strike in the horses here in cork, evil affliction. We're getting a few colder nights now so hopefully it will ease. Love seeing you working as a family, the boys' determination to help is great to see, as is your patience and guidance. Good to see your mum too! ❤
