A recent high school graduate from Louisiana is missing after going overboard while on a trip to the Bahamas.

Officials say 18-year-old Cameron Robbins was traveling with a group of students when he went overboard on May 24.

Students and parents prayed for Robbins' safe return at his high school in Baton Rouge.

Royal Bahamian Police say it happened near an uninhabited island popular for snorkeling.

They are investigating claims that Robbins jumped into the water at night on a dare.

Parents talk to your kids and tell them not to be stupid on these types of trips with friends

As a Bahamian, I would tell you, that wasn’t a good idea

They keep saying "went overboard" all vaguely like they're trying not to say he jumped off. I'm pretty sure he jumped off thinking it was cute. Play stupid games win stupid prizes. Now his family's gotta deal with it 🙁

NY post reports that it was a ship decorated like a pirate ship and there's a pic of him in the water, so people were aware that he jumped.

The way he was splashing like that probably attracted a shark or some other predator. This kid didn’t go easy. RIP

Unfortunately the Bahamas are extremely infested with sharks. Literally the shark capital of the world

This is the argument that proves peoples brains don’t start maturing until after 25 and even then I have seen 30 and 40 year olds that’s act like they have no sense.

I can’t believe this happened cause of dare. Just cause your so called friends dare you to jump doesn’t mean you have to follow through😢 I feel bad for his parents/family….

The person or people who dared him need to be held accountable. If thats not criminal I dont know what is.

The same ones that dared him to kill himself are the same ones “distraught”

The great cover up
It was a current
It was hypothermia
He drowned
No one on board has spoken a word
No other foortage in a time where every teen holds on to their phone like its gold
He got destroyed by many sharks very quickly

Sorry to state the obvious

Youthful exuberance…

Where would this world be without it? Yet again we are reminded that it can also have deadly consequences.

I feel a very deep sadness for his family, friends and schoolmates. What a terrible way to end the school year and start the summer for all of these mourning, traumatized folks.

And a young life lost at sea on a lark?
No adequate words for that…

One moment their daring him to jump the next moment their in a prayer circle.
I hope they learned a lesson because his blood is on their hands

Yeah, they were on the well known pirate party ship which is a lot of drinking (18 legal age in Bahamas). The pics are unreal of him in the water at night, it’s so dangerous & the Bahamian waters are tiger shark breeding grounds. Absolutely tragic and horrific for the family. My deepest condolences.

There is a great lack of maturity in young adults in Western cultures, particularly in the US. I have travelled all around the world and it is in the US where I find teenagers and adults exhibiting poor critical thinking skills and behaviors not consistent with their age group. Many are unable to properly reason or make wise decision on their own. It is quite the opposite in Asian, African and Middle Eastern countries. In the US, childhood is prolonged up to until the upper 30’s and it is considered normal.
