Love this video! That Unitec detector is extremely rare, I've never seen one like that before. Weird that the Honeywell TC49A's burned the walls, our old house had one that we replaced that left the same burn marks on the ceiling.

I have the second smoke alarm you said was rare to find. It has been in my house since I started living there. They are VERY LOUD.

Nice collection. I have never heard of Unitec. The unknown company smoke alarm is actually made by Honeywell.

If the 350.57045s still aren't working, try adjusting the sensitivity knobs. They are the little black circles with the curved edges on the inside, and you should just be able to twist them. It seems to be a common flaw with those where the knobs get out of place and cause the detector to not function properly. If that doesn't work, then the detectors may just be done for.

Great video Nice collection! That's something that old smoke detector started burning the wall and like you said could of started a fire

I'd be curious to see you test old smoke detectors with fire and smoke to see if they function as well.

Brings back memories from my babysitter from back in the day.

Great collection! By any chance do you have any smoke detectors that have Radium 226 instead of the typical Americium 241 source for it's ionization chamber? I have been looking for one for years!

1:05 My friend has one of these in his house, I think these alarms are really rare and interesting
Edit: the button on his is on the middle of the alarm, not the side like the ones shown in the video. also interesting
Edit 17-3-22: well it turns out he replaced it and he actually gave it to me so I got to look at it up close!

I have a Honeywell tc49a. It has a cord that is about 9 feet long and plugs into an outlet for power. It’s from January 1977.

I absolutely love your collection! That Unitec smoke alarm would be my favorite in this collection along with the two Honeywell TC49A’s. I really hope to get alarms exactly like these one day.

I remember seeing a video of a bedroom fire demo that had one of those rare GE smoke detectors in it.

My grandma has the one with the escape light in the corner of her basement. I also believe there’s one in the garage but I think there’s no battery in it. My brother also got one from eBay.
