2024 Suzuki Swift Ultra Walkaround

Hello guys, welcome back to Car Obsession, and welcome to another Walkaround. It's been a while since I've filmed one of these, so in case you are new, let me explain the concept.

It's pretty simple, it's pretty much a static review of a car, and this time around it's the brand new, fourth-generation Suzuki Swift. Entering the UK market this year, it's available in two trim levels; Motion and Ultra, with respective prices of £18,699 and £19.799. It's the latter featured in this video, but no matter which one you go for, there's only one choice of engine.

It's a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol three-cylinder, which is aided by a mild hybrid system. Because of the absence of a turbocharger, the power output is modest to say the least. It offers 82hp along with 112Nm of torque. In the case of the car featured here the power is fed to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual, but there is also the choice of a CVT and also all-wheel drive.

0-62 comes in 12.5 seconds, but this falls down to 11.9 if you go for the CVT, and the top speed is a little north of 100mph. On a combined run the new Suzuki Swift can offer up to 64.2mpg with CO2 emissions as low as 99g/km.

Hello everyone, thank you for dropping in on this video. I would like to o apologise for the sub par audio, I found out after I had filmed this video that the wire for my clip on microphone had a break in it.

Please persevere as it gets better once I'm inside the car.

I have just bought the 2024 S.S. Motion today. I have to admit....I love it. My previous car was Mazda 2. The swift is so comfortable, light n easy to drive. Yes, the screen is a bit slower. But sure. For the price, I def ain't complaining. As for all the safety features that come as standard. Hard to believe. Lovely wee run around.

I wonder does Suzuki swift ultra has a rear heater duct?

I have the previous model SZ5 Mild Hybrid with 1.0L 3 cyl Boosterjet Engine which has 109bhp. Got to say very underwhelmed by the new model, it just looks lie a facelift of my car. Slightly different at the front, and the tail lamps slightly different as well. Interior is almost identical apart from the larger infotainment screen. Overall the car is not that much different. The main disappointment is the engine only delivering a measly 81bhp, don't get me wrong I love my Swift, but to release a new model almost identical with a lesser powered engine that is so much slower is a backwards step by Suzuki.
BTW having now had a test drive in the new model a couple of months back can confirm it is like a snail on valium compared to The 1.0 SZ5 Boosterjet Engine, I was actually shocked at how much slower it was. Again I absolutely love my current Swift as it has everything, but current owners will be massively put off by a ridiculous loss in performance of a so called new model, and many current Swift owners like myself will not purchase this 'clone' of the previous model with a woefully underpowered engine. That being said I would not put anyone off buying this model if they are thinking of switching to Suzuki Swift, they are brilliant cars, but again the loss of performance is a massive minus, as is the loss of the fog lamps in the front bumper, and the worst thing about the new model was the warning notifications bleeping very minute, you have to turn them off each time you start it up.

Another great video.

I'm still undecided about this new Swift (front is all rounded like a WC with a loo seat lid for a bonnet), the rear? Those lights? Yuk! and Suzuki's disproportionate, price hike strategies, are pure madness.

Then there's a question mark over whether a Sport version will be available or not in GB.

Inside? Sawn off steering wheel - great if a F1 car, a pain in a city car. Also that flat screen is an eyesore distraction for the driver.

I'm not sure if it's the fault of design engineers (doubtful) or the 'feltip faeries', but the overall design of this car, is, to us, Suzuki owners, a let down.

Dacia and Citroen are turning out well equipped cars, in the price ranges Suzuki used to occupy - that is bound to hamper Suzuki GB sales. A shame as the new, quieter cars, with Suzuki reliability will probably be the better car overall.

To my mind the best looking Swift has to be the 2010-2017 model range, especially with a tasteful hatchback lid spoiler, perhaps lowered a tad too.

It's a thumbs down for the styling but looks ok for the money, does it have a spare wheel ?
